    e Institute of Governance Studies (IGS), BRAC University is going to offer its 3rd Certificate

    ogramme on Environmental Management and Governance jointly with the Centre for Naturalsource Studies of the University of Manitoba, Canada. The main purpose of the certificate programo sensitise and enhance the capacity of participants on key environmental governance issues rela

    natural resources and environment management. The certificate course will be an intense progra

    ich will provide opportunities to the participants to be trained with key concepts of environmen

    ues and concerns, management system, environmental governance, implementation methods anocedures.

    e curriculum for this programme has been designed to offer exposure and training on theoretica

    owledge on key issues, supplemented by case studies where appropriate, to make the programmactical as possible.

    velopment, the various actors and the tools for effective governance for sustainability.

    dule 2: Environmental governancee course introduces the concept of governance and builds into the problems and issues of natura

    ources and environmental governance. It aims to acquaint the students with the various actors

    olved with the governance using case studies where appropriate.

    dule 3: Policy regimes for natural resource and environment management

    s course aims to introduce the students to the policy-legal regimes for natural resource and

    vironment management with particular focus on Bangladesh. It discusses the legal regimes and thmpliance of national laws regarding natural resources and environment management. This courses an overview of the Bangladesh country strategy documents prepared as compliance of

    ernational treaties.

    dule 4: Field study and Experiential Learning

    e field study course is divided into two parts. The first part will consist of classes on EIA and SIA

    d techniques. This component aims to introduce the tools needed for implementing projects

    rtaining to natural resource and environment management. The second part will involve the actud study where students will be required to apply their knowledge from other courses in the

    ogramme as well as what they have learned about EIA.
