MAST’s focus: Managing risk for clients and providing training at the highest level.

Our training works

Training Philosophy – MAST Ethos – enable through knowledge.

Training is a medium by which people can be empowered through the transfer of knowledge from a

base of practical or theoretical content. We have a training team with both subject matter knowledge

and exemplary teaching skills.

Aim: empower and enhance capability

We have a passionate commitment to deliver and ensure the successful transfer of knowledge. Our

training will make a difference and will result in genuine skills transfer and empowerment of the

students whether that is for individual students, private industry or government training.

Training concept

The concept is simple; training followed by confirmation of skills and knowledge transfer through

post training performance tests and student feedback. What we leave behind is sustainable effective

capability, a functioning capability.

Training gap analysis

Once training support is requested our teams start by conducting a gap analysis of existing training

programmes in place and then tailoring a bespoke package to ensure knowledge transfer is achieved.

MAST gap analysis will take into consideration: the training requirement.

This includes an understanding of the task, the threat and the people:

• Is there an existing capability in place - what is already working?

• Physical resources and facilities - have we the tools to train and operate?

• Human Resources - quality and quantity

Where do we conduct our training?

Our training headquarters are based in Oman. We also have a satellite training school and firearms

range in Malta.

We are accredited by the UK Maritime Coastguard Agency and Transport Malta.

We are able to support a wide range of training requirements both at the individual, corporate and

government level.

ship arrest (including human rights issues) and language training, as well as the physical seamanship

skills required to conduct boarding of ships at sea.

2. Pyrotechnics handling training for UK Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA)

The UK’s inshore waters and beaches are littered with discarded marine pyrotechnics. Over the course

of 18 months, we are training various UK coastguard authorities in how to receive, store and dispose

of these hazards safely.

As part of this, we re-designed the MCA’s safe system of work and developed a competence based

training framework to ensure that training within the MCA and its affiliated agencies is up to date.

3. Counter piracy training for US global oil fleet

We have been tasked by a US global oil company (shipping subsidiary) to provide counter piracy and

medical training to ship crews.

4. Explosive ordnance training on behalf of the US government

The EOD team was engaged to support a 16-week EOD training package, implemented by a US security

company, in a central Asian country on behalf of the US Government. We were responsible for the

course design and training delivery of a three week EOD combat diving module, supporting up to 60

combat swimmers.

The course focused on underwater search techniques, demolitions and underwater weapon training for

explosive devices covertly placed on a ship’s hull or port infrastructure.

We taught students how to search, locate and destroy devices in situ in difficult and dangerous conditions.
