Contextthe principles, approaches, axes, pillars and implementation strategies of AgroecologicalCrop Protection (ACP) at the field and lanscape levels are not the same as those knownto date. therefore, ACP represents a new field of research and applications yet to bethoroughly studied and disseminated. in line with current objectives assigned to cropprotection, ACP creates a breakthrough in cropping system design and in themanagement of interstitial spaces, switching from agrochemistry to agroecology. ACP isthe underlying framework of this training Course: review of the principles of ACP, criticalanalysis of the evolution of Crop Protection, and results of participatory experimentsunder various production systems. Particular attention will be paid to the role ofmodelling approaches in designing agroecological cropping systems based on ACP, aswell as on activities in this new context, with specific reference to researchers (e.g. newknowledge to be acquired, multicriteria evaluation, inter-disciplinarity). Finally, thistraining Course will propose practical recommendations to help implement theagroecological transition, for temperate as well as tropical agroecosystems.

Day 3. Experiences and case studies - agroecological and touristic break

w Discussion: Around experiences in producers, case studies + 2 Workshops.

w objectives: Comparing ACP principles to field reality; evaluatingthe level of complexity of the modelling projects chosen on Day 2.

w Afternoon: Visit of a tuscan farm and tour of Volterra, a lovely etruscan city.

Day 4. Development of research in ACP

w Conference 4: study Models (pests, cropping systems) and newresearch avenues + 3 Workshops.

w objectives: through rotating workshops, discussing and definingnew research actions around specific cases and their convergencein the north/south, combining different approaches inAgroecological Crop Protection.

Day 5. TC-ACP18’ wrap-up and follow-up
