INTRODUCTORY RITES

Alternative Simple Dialogues Based on the Missal Appendix and the commonly used simple chant

for the Eucharistic Prayer Doxology (See page 13.) “Every effort should be made to introduce or strengthen as a normative practice the singing of the dialogues between the priest, deacon, or lector and the people. Even the priest with very limited singing ability is capable of chanting The Lord be with you on a single pitch.” Sing to the Lord: Music in Divine Worship (#115a) SIGN OF THE CROSS AND GREETING

PENITENTIAL ACT

Priest: Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to celebrate these sacred mysteries.

Priest, Deacon, or other minister may chant the invocations. The priest chants the conclusion.

(Cf. Sing to the Lord, #151.) Let us pray…….. Grant, we pray, almighty God that your faithful may resolve to run forth with righteous deeds, to meet Christ who is coming, so that, gathered at his right hand, they may be worthy to possess the heavenly Kingdom
