Escola Britânica da Madeira (British School of Madeira)
Director: Mrs Thelma Teixeira
Escola Internacional da Madeira is an International education institution with the following classes:Crèche (from 4 months),Nursery (from 2½ and 3 years),Pre-school (4 to 5 years),Primary 1 to 4 (aged 6 to 10).Each class consists of a limited number of pupils. Located in the centre of Funchal, we offer pupils and families an international education focused on preparing children for the future.Escola Internacional da Madeira aims to provide, within a disciplined and caring framework, the educational and social foundations necessary to allow and encourage children to develop their potentialities. The children are guided to develop an appreciation of individual differences and gain a broad perspective on the world as they learn to live in an international society. The pupils of The International School come from a great variety of countries across the globe and begin to discover, as they play together, that in spite of their differences, they are all very much alike.
POLICY STATEMENTThe policy of Escola Internacional da Madeira is to:· provide a quality education in an atmosphere that encourages learning and awareness of the truth, while nurturing and developing the character of the pupils;· participate in community affairs;· keep abreast of the most recent developments in technology through the involvement of parents and the community;· do curriculum renewal and research constantly;· strengthen teacher skills through observation periods, training and development and quality control.
Escola Britânica da Madeira (British School of Madeira)
Director: Mrs Jane GordonCaminho dos Saltos 6, 9050-219 Funchal.Madeira. Portugal
The British School of Madeira opened in September 1980. It is the only international bilingual Portuguese-English school in the Island which is officially recognised by the Regional Educational Authority of Madeira. We are proud of our record and of the traditions we have created. In September 2006 we moved into our new installations in Caminho dos Saltos, Funchal. We now have the ideal facilities and conditions for a 21st century school. The British School of Madeira is a truly international school in terms of its pupil population – 50% Portuguese and at least 16 other different nationalities.
