The European Forest Institute(EFI), the International Forestry Students’ Association(IFSA) and the International Union of Forest Research Organizations(IUFRO) are collaborating in a joint capacity development project on global student networking and green jobs in the forest sector. The Dare to Explore! Traineeship Program is an integral part of this project, which offers four specified, 3-months-traineeship opportunities each year for 2019, 2020(postponed to 2021), and 2021. The trainee positions are intended to familiarize students of forest(ry) programmes with work at the science-policy-interface at the international level, including research, communication, and policy-relevant activities. With this open call, the hosting organizations are inviting applications by students (all levels incl. PhD) or recent graduates (not more than1 year after graduation) from universities which have an IFSA group (LC). All traineeships are paid with a monthly remuneration of 1500 EUR. Any cost for visas, travel and accommodation on site will need to be covered by the applicant.

TRAINEESHIPS AT THE FOREST SCIENCE-POLICY-INTERFACE

In the case of travel and other COVID-19 related restrictions, traineeships may take place remotely from the country of residence of the selected trainees.

The selected trainees are expected to take part in pre-and post-traineeship questionnaires to determine the level of preparedness prior to, and skills acquired during the traineeship. These questionnaires will inform a global study on the future of employment in the forest sector.

Traineeship at the EFI-IFSA-IUFRO Project in Bonn, Germany.

The EFI-IFSA-IUFRO joint Capacity Development Project on Global student networking and green jobs in the forest sector is investigating the transforming employment trends in the forest sector. It puts special focus on the perspective of students and recent graduates from around the world. It further explores ways to prepare future foresters for the expected changes in employment and related skills.

We are looking for a Trainee for 3 months ideally starting in mid-July 2021 to assist the project staff and the IFSA TreE-learning sub-commission in enhancing IFSAs capacity building efforts, through the setup of the IFSA TreE-learning platform.

YOUR TASKS WILL INCLUDE:

CAPACITY BUILDING – SETTING UP THE IFSA TREE-LEARNING PLATFORM • Plan and set up framework for IFSA TreE-

learning platform• Structuring IFSA’s existing content• Coordinate the development of soft skills trainings for the TreE-Learning platform• Collect list of existing (free) external content (possible link to GFIS)• Closely working with IFSAs Head of TreE-learning Sub-Commission• Define future steps (workplan for Sub-commission in IFSA 2021/22 term)• Contribute to a video project with IFSA to highlight different career opportunities in the forest sector

EFI Bonn is the vibrant and growing office of EFI in Bonn/Germany, hosting EFIs Governance and Resilience programmes, amidst of the UN-Sustainability-Campus.

EFI Bonn is calling for applications for a 6-months (!) trainee position, starting in December 2021.

The trainee will be supporting both the conference content and organisational teams (Governance Programme) in organizing the 4th International Forest Policy Meeting, that will take place in late April 2022.

The International Forest Policy Meeting is a biannual event addressing forest and forest-related issues from a social science perspective.

Traineeship at FSC International in Bonn, Germany.

You will be working at FSC International analysing the state of the art (FSC’s internal documents and documents of other organisations). You will be part of a very dynamic and diverse group of colleagues working in the Director General’s office (Called Engagement Unit). You will also work with the Diversity & Gender Task Force.

The preferred starting for the 3 month traineeship date would be from mid-July 2021.

In 1998 FSC had the first references to gender issues in the standard, and now we are asking ourselves: What does it mean. You will help us to find out, and to recommend where to go: “Gendering FSC: Where we stand and where we want to go”
