Aqua FitnessAQUA FITNESS programs are perfect for those just starting out or looking for a new fitness challenge. The resistance of water provides a low impact, total body workout. Gentle, moderate or intense - we have a class that’s right for you! *Suitable for injury rehabilitation.

Cardio & Muscle Strengthening CARDIO + MUSCLE STRENGTHENING classes will build your bones, move your muscles, strengthen your spine, and condition your cardiovascular system, for a balanced overall workout.

Dance FitnessDANCE frees the body, enlivens the spirit, and strengthens the soul! Dance fitness programs will challenge your cardiovascular system and improve core strength, while providing an opportunity for self expression and fun movement to music.

Mind & BodyMIND & BODY workouts challenge participants to connect the body, mind, and spirit, providing an opportunity to improve body awareness, breathing, flexibility, stress management, and overall well-being.

Timely RegistrationParticipants are encouraged to register as early as possible to avoid class cancellation due to low registration. See page 46 for registration information.

Shower FacilitiesParticipants in fitness programs at Gellert Community Centre have free use of on-site showers.

Get Active QuestionnaireAll participants must complete a Get Active Questionnaire (GAQ) prior to participating in a fitness program. Submit to instructor at the first class. You can download a printable PDF copy from our website at www.haltonhills.ca/RecPrograms under Registration Documents, or obtain one from the instructor on the first class.

Body BlastThis is the ultimate strength fitness workout! Utilize tubing, dumbbells, body bars, and your own body weight to sculpt and strengthen your muscles.

Bone BuilderBone Builder is a group resistance training class focusing on exercises to strengthen the spine and hips for those with osteoporosis or at risk of developing the disease. Postural and balance training is also included to prevent falls. New: Thursday 9 a.m. class in Acton!

Cardio SculptStrengthen your muscles and condition your cardiovascular system in this powerful class that combines aerobic exercise with resistance training for a well-rounded workout. Circuit training, step, and traditional floor routines are utilized to provide variety from week to week. Moderate intensity.

Dance FitnessIf you love to dance, Dance Fitness is for you! This program combines different dance styles that are fun and easy to follow. You will strengthen your body, breathe easier, increase your stamina, improve alertness...and have fun while doing it!

Easy Does It WorkoutThis class offers a gentle combination of chair exercises, walking, stretching and circulatory exercise – all set to great music. Put pep in your step and be prepared to have lots of fun. Great for body and mind!

GentleFitDesigned for those who are new to fitness or wanting a gentle workout, this class includes a light cardio segment, resistance & balance training, and stretching.

Line DanceIn this class, you’ll learn dances to a variety of music. Have fun and exercise at the same time. No experience or partner required. Wear soft-soled shoes.

PoundPound combines cardio and strength activities in a workout inspired by the infectious, energizing and sweat-dripping fun of playing the drums.

StrollercizeTurn your stroller into a fitness machine! Your baby can enjoy the fresh air while you enjoy an invigorating workout using strengthening bands and weights while pushing your stroller. You’ve never gotten so much out of a power walk! This program runs rain or shine.

Walk FitCan you really walk your way to fitness? You bet! Classes are designed to be low impact incorporating brisk walking, shuffles, squats, curb step ups, along with some balance work. Resistance bands and light weights are also used to work the upper and lower body muscles. You will improve mobility, boost circulation and keep your heart healthy.

ZUMBA®

ZUMBA® fitness is a fusion of Latin music and dance themes that create an exciting and effective fitness program. It’s a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps. Join the party, experience ZUMBA®!

ZUMBA® GoldZUMBA® Gold is designed for beginners and active older adults who are looking for a modified class that recreates the original ZUMBA® moves at a lower-intensity.

TIME is a group exercise program for individuals with balance and mobility challenges as a result of conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, acquired brain injury or weakness after a hospital stay. Designed by physiotherapists, this 1 hour program runs twice per week and is led by TIME certified fitness instructors. Shown here, our program is also supported by volunteers.

SMind & Body | Yoga

Qi GongQi Gong is a form of Chinese exercise involving the practice of aligning breath, movement, and awareness for exercise, healing, and meditation. Coordinated gentle rhythmic breathing is performed with slow repetition of fluid movement, to create a calm mindful state.

T’ai ChiT’ai Chi is a form of Chinese exercise that involves learning a sequence of slow graceful movements designed to improve circulation, coordination, balance, and concentration. You will be performing gentle rhythmical movements that mobilize every muscle, joint and ligament in the body.

T’ai Chi - Int/AdvSee T’ai Chi program description. The Int/Adv class is designed for experienced participants who have attended a minimum of 2 sessions of T’ai Chi.

Yoga – YinYin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat and the lengthening/contracting of muscles. Yin Yoga targets connective tissues, ligaments and joints of the body and involves a series of held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower body – hips, pelvis and lower spine.

YogaRelieve stress and release tension in this progressive approach to fitness. Yoga incorporates breath training, meditation and physical postures designed to improve flexibility, strength, overall well-being and stress management.

Yoga – ChairChair yoga is a modified program done sitting in a chair and standing with support of a chair. This class incorporates many of the postures and stretches of a traditional Yoga class without requiring the participant to move into standing and lying positions.
