VGCSA Country Meeting BALLARAT GOLF CLUB Monday & Tuesday 2 - 3 August 2021 TRADE PRESENTATIONS & SPEAKERS DR. PHILLIP FORD – MELBOURNE POLYTECHNIC Dr. Phillip Ford has taught Turf Management at Melbourne Polytechnic since 1984, apart from a brief time away (2008-2013) while he did a PhD at Ballarat Uni, on the link between natural turf and football injury. In 2009, he was awarded the VGCSA industry award and in 2011 the AGCSA Distinguished Service Award. He teaches in the turf apprenticeship, Diploma and Degree programs at Melbourne Polytechnic. Phillip will be presenting on the topic of “Dusting of greens & turf health”. RICHARD FORSYTH - ROYAL MELBOURNE GC Director of Courses - Richard Forsyth’s dedicated career in turf management began in 1980, commencing his apprenticeship at Riversdale Club. Richard’s appointments as Course Superintendent over the years include Murray Downs GCC, Metropolitan GC and the Royal Melbourne GC. Throughout his award winning career, Richard has been involved in major golf course renovation projects, and hosted several tournaments in his role at RMGC. Richard will be providing an overview of his extensive career, highlighting major course construction works and milestones along the way. TIM WARREN - GLENELG GC Tim Warren has served as Course Superintendent at a number of clubs in SA and Victoria over 23 years, now appointed at Glenelg GC since 2018. Tim has experienced a variety of management challenges over his career, and has worked at facilities with a diversity of management structures from private ownership, state Government to membership based clubs. The Glenelg Golf Club is embarking on a major Course Enhancement Plan with a target to complete the project in just over three years. Tim will be discussing his career experiences, challenges and the exciting times ahead as the Glenelg Golf Club prepares to undertake this major capital works project. MARK MATEHAERE – ENVOYGOLF A founder of EnvoyGolf and executive search firm Ellington Savage, Mark Matehaere has over 30 years experience in recruiting for some of Australia's leading golf clubs and Australia's largest and best known corporations. This has involved recruiting out of the UK and Europe, North America, Asia and Africa, in addition to Australia and New Zealand. Mark will be taking part in the Tuesday Open Forum to share insights and observations of the industry as a career and source of talent, from the recruiters perspective.

STEVE MONEGHETTI – AUSTRALIAN SPORTING LEGEND Steve 'Mona' Moneghetti is one of Australia's all-time greatest marathon runners having represented the country at four Olympic Games, four Commonwealth Games and six World Championships. He has run an incredible 22 marathons and finished in 11th place or higher in 20 of them. Steve will be covering the process of

his achievements that entail the necessary aspects of teamwork, motivation and goal setting.
