About Trading in BMO Market Pro

You can trade ticket equities, ETFs and options listed on the major North American exchanges through BMO Market Pro.

Trade Ticket

You can launch a trade ticket by clicking on the Trade button located in the top toolbar.

The order ticket is comprised of the following parts:

1. Asset Selector:

Equity or Option can be selected

2. Symbol Entry:

The symbol field is equipped with predictive search to make entering symbols quick and intuitive

3. Account Selector:

Select the account you want to place the order in

4. Security quote:

Quotes are real time streaming

5. Order entry fields:

i. Action: Buy or Sell

ii. Quantity: Number of shares or contracts (for options orders) you want to trade

iii. Type: Available order types as follows:

Asset Type Action Order Types

Market Price Limit On Stop Trailing Stop Hard Stop

Equity Buy x x x

Equity Sell x x x x x

Option Buy x x

Option Sell x x

iv. Settlement Funds: What currency you want to use to pay for the trade (CAD or USD)

v. Good until: For Price Limit orders only, you can set the expiry date for the order up to 45 days in

the future.

6. Review order details:

This section will dynamically update as you complete the Order Entry fields on the left side of the ticket.

7. Contact info & Trading Password fields:

Enter your Contact Info and Trading Password. Select Remember me if you would like to remember

your Contact Info and Trading Password the next time you enter an order within the same session. Click

on Submit Order

Invoking a Trade:

You can place a trade from a number of different places within BMO Market Pro by Right-Clicking a symbol or price

within the following modules:

1. Watchlist:

a. Right Click an equity or option symbol from your Watchlist, select the Trade option, and select a Trade

action from the sub-menu:

2. Detailed Quote:

a. Right Click anywhere within the Detailed Quote module, select the Trade option, and select a Trade

action from the sub-menu:

3. Market Depth:

a. Right Click on a price within the Market Depth module, select the Trade option, and select a Trade

action from the sub-menu:

4. Account Manager -> Holdings:

a. On the Holdings tab within the Account Manager module, Right Click on the row of the security

(equity/option) you wish to place an order for, select the Trade option:

Trading from Charts:

You can trade from the Charts module using the Trade Master feature. You launch the Trade Master by clicking on the

Trade button at the top of the Chart window.

The Trade Master has two components:

1. Quick Trade:

The Quick Trade component allows you to place a trade for the symbol in focus on the Chart module.

To place a trade Quick Trade component:

a. Select the account from the Account Selector

b. Enter the number of shares you want to trade in the Quantity field

c. Click on one of the Quick Pads for the action you want to take

2. Position Manager

The Position Manager will display any open position and the corresponding gain/loss on that position for the

primary security you are viewing in the Chart module.

The figure in the Profit/Loss field is green if there is a Gain and red if there is a Loss. The position quantity held

in your account is denoted in the Quantity field.

To quickly close your position in a security, click on the Close Position button. A Market order ticket for the

exact quantity you hold in your account will be invoked:

Checking Order Status:

Once you have clicked Submit Order, your order will immediately appear in the Account Manager under the Order

Status tab (see Account Manager section for more details):

Click on the Refresh icon at the top of the Account Manager to update the Order Status tab.

Important note: Order Status will not automatically refresh; you mush click the Refresh icon to get the most up to

order status on your account.

About Account Manager in BMO Market Pro

You can launch the Account Manager module from the Menu Bar:

In Account Manager, you can see your Order Status, Holdings, and Account Summary; each one is in a separate tab.

The Account Manager window can be attached to your desktop like any floating window in Market Pro or it can be

maintained as a floating window.

To attach the Account Manager module to the active workspace page, Right Click on the Options icon on the top right of

the module window and select Attach.

Order Status Tab

The Order Status within the Account Manager module will show all orders entered in your account(s) for the day.

Customizing the Order Status view:

1. You can select from the dropdown menu different column views, or you can create your own customized

column display by selecting Customize from the dropdown menu.

When you select Customize you will be presented with the Heading Customization menu which contains a number of

Heading categories from which to choose columns to display. The most common Order Status data points are located

under the Uncategorized category.

2. You can reorder the column order by Left Clicking a column under Selected Fields, then clicking Move Up or

Move Down on the right side of the Heading Customization menu.

3. You can click the funnel to show/hide the filters on this page.

4. You can also click the Refresh button to refresh the view and get the latest updates of your order status.

NOTE: The Account Manager does not update automatically. You will have to click on the Refresh button to

retrieve a real time snapshot of Order Status, Holdings, and the Account Summary tabs.

Changing or Cancelling an Open Order:

You can double click on any Open or Partial Fill order on the Order Status tab to Modify, Cancel, or Copy the order.

Holdings Tab

The Holdings tab provides a real time snapshot view of the holdings in your account(s).

Customizing the Holdings view:

1. You can select from the dropdown menu different column views, or you can create your own customized

column display by selecting Customize from the dropdown menu.

If your account has CAD/USD holdings, you can select the currency in which you would like your holdings value to be

displayed in this tab.

You can trade any equity, ETF or options position you hold from the Holdings tab by Right Clicking on the position and

selecting Trade. A trade ticket will be opened and populated with the security selected:

Account Summary Tab

On the last tab, you will see the aggregated amount of your account holdings and cash in your account(s).
