Appendix G: MAS and MSS reports

Administrators can use the Reporting Tool application to generate predefined Messaging ApplicationServer (MAS) reports. These reports are useful for monitoring system usage, planning capacity, andtracking system security.

For more information about the Reporting Tool application, see Reporting capabilities on page 83.

To generate Message Storage Server (MSS) reports, administrators can use the Web basedadministrative interface. For more information, see Message Storage Server administration on page 82.

This appendix provides information about the Modular Messaging MAS and MSS reports.

Messaging Application Server reportsThe following table lists the MAS reports that administrators can generate by using ReportingTool.

Report Description

Basic Metrics report Basic Metrics Report provides a general performanceoverview. This report records statistics, in the form of totals andpercentages, on messaging activity in the voice maildomain (VMD). For example, the report includes the totalnumber of incoming calls and the percentage of callsresulting in messages left. This report includes general information about telephoneuser interface (TUI) usage and statistical information aboutsubscriber TUI logins. For a sample Basic Metrics report, see Basic Matrics reporton page 393.

Hourly Statisticsreport

Hourly Statistics Report assists in capacity planning. This report records information about the number ofincoming and outgoing calls for each hour in a specifiedtime period. This information is useful for monitoring call activity acrossthe VMD.For a sample Hourly Statistics report, see Hourly Statisticsreport on page 393.

Report Description

Login Failures report This report records information about unsuccessfulmailbox logins that involve the MAS. For example, anunsuccessful login from the TUI. Logins might be failbecause of an incorrect password or invalid mailboxnumber being entered. This information is useful for monitoring system securityfor the VMD.For a sample Login Failures report, see Login Failuresreport on page 394.

Port Statistics report This report records incoming and outgoing call informationfor each port configured in the VMD.This information is useful for monitoring port usage. For a sample Port Statistics report, see Port Statisticsreport on page 395.

System Usage report This report records call and messaging statistics for theVMD.This information is useful for monitoring the usage of thesystem, including the types of calls and their disposition;for example, the number of messages left, the number offax calls, and the time that ports were used for text-to-speech (TTS) conversion of text messages. For a sample System Usage report, see System Usagereport on page 396.

User MailboxStatistics report

This report records information about telephone calls andmessages received by each subscriber in the VMD.This information is useful for monitoring mailbox usage. For a sample Usage Mailbox Statistics report, see UsageMailbox Statistics report on page 397.

Message Storage Server reportsThe MSS collects information about system settings and attributes and information that depictshow the system is used. This information includes data about features, subscribers, communities, and remote messaging traffic. This information is displayed in the MSS reports.

The following table lists the MSS reports that administrators can generate by using the Webbased administrative interface of the MSS.
