Yes, the program competes with a private college in the area for students who are seeking professional advancement without obtaining a college degree. • Will this meet some specific workforce, university transfer or student success need? Yes, employment in a higher paying job. • Are there partners, grant requirements, faculty collaborations or other reasons leading to the development of this

13. Rationale/need for the above action(s). • Is there a need for this course/program in our service district? Yes • How will this impact student success for upper division instruction or job placement? Students who complete paramedic training increase their pay and responsibility in the public safety and health care fields. This is a step in career advancement including obtain a college degree at some level. • If the College already has a similar course/program, why are we developing this program/course and what are the

differences between the programs and courses? Yes, North Campus has a similar program. The NC program has prerequisites and usually does not offer a schedule that is convenient to currently employed EMS/Fire providers. There is a need for a program without prerequisites that offers a friendly schedule.

• How many students and what businesses or transfer institutions will benefit? Does this course/program support a College goal or initiative?

Approximately 16 students are positively impacted by these course modifications. Ensures employers have graduates that meet the current standards of the profession. Supports Strategic Goal 2: Enhance rigorous and relevant learning opportunities and Strategic Goal 4: Contribute to workforce and economic development

• Please add any additional information to provide rationale for this submission. This program has been

functioning since 2011. There are students who are coming to FSCJ who would otherwise have gone to a private

college.
