Welcome to this edition of Our Community magazine.
It has been an eventful past few months for TR Homes with new designs released, Wagin Woolorama and of course the Alcock Brown-Neaves (ABN) Group deciding to sell TR Homes to Murray River North (MRN).
Dale Alcock was very cautious in considering the sale of TR Homes and said the move represented a great opportunity for TR to grow into a national regional housing brand. Dale ensured MRN was the right fit for TR Homes both through having cultural synergies between the two companies and enabling TR Homes to continuing to service rural WA. “The ABN Group would not have been prepared to sell TR Homes in any other case,” he said. Not many people in the general public have heard of MRN however they are very well renowned in northern WA, NT and SA as a provider of modular buildings for government departments, providing buildings to remote areas, including health facilities, police stations and schools. For TR Homes this doesn’t change who we are, what we stand for or what we build, however it does open up an exciting opportunity for us to now sell interstate.
In late May TR Homes will start selling homes in the Northern Territory including the growing towns of Darwin, Alice Springs & Katherine. On another note, keep an eye out on channel 7TWO for TR Homes! The Grange design is being featured on the program Australia’s Best Houses in May / June. Additionally the Grange has been nominated as a Finalist Design in the national HIA Solutions in Steel Award, which is announced in late May. It is a great home so it’s fantastic to see it get the national recognition it deserves.Last but not least, check out the new 3G design on page 3 & 4 of this edition. With an increase in the need for multiple generations living under one roof (whether the kids are staying at home longer or Grandma coming to stay) the 3G has been designed with this in mind, giving everyone their own space. What is exciting about this home is you can make it into 2 homes in 1 if you need. A great idea for a rental property or a holiday home with rental potential. n

Adult kids staying put. Grandparents coming home to roost.
Welcome to the sandwich generation—where baby boomers are being sandwiched between both their parents and adult children at home.
The trend, named ‘multigenerational living’, is being spurred by a combination of financial pressures, elderly parents needing to move in and children leaving home later in life.
With more and more Australians now having to accommodate three generations under the one roof, never before has the need for intelligent, multigenerational home design been so strong.
Enter the 3G by TR Homes.
The four bedroom, three bathroom 3G counters the potential problems of inadequate living space and increased noise generally associated with multiple generations cohabiting.
A smart layout featuring a separate entrance and ensuite creates virtually ‘2 homes in 1’, affording elderly parents or teenage children their own personal space. There is also the option to add a kitchenette and laundry to the secondary living space to create a fully self-contained unit within the home for ultimate privacy.
This independent living space is connected to the ‘main’ part of the home which boasts three spacious bedrooms, laundry, kitchen, family and dining areas.
Never before has togetherness felt so spacious and private. n

FUTURE-PROOF YOUR FAMILY’S HOMEThis solution works well if you need a new home now however down the track you may want Grandma to come and live with you. This option includes putting the plumbing & electrical provisions in the walls for a kitchenette & laundry (to be installed later)
THE INDEPENDENT LIVING UPGRADE Grandma is coming to stay however she needs her own space. This option includes the installation of the kitchenette & laundry facilities, so you don’t need to share these spaces if you don’t want. The Living area still opens up to the main home’s living area, allowing for family socialising when wanted. Another use for this may be Shared Accommodation.
THE DUAL-KEY RESIDENCE This option completely separates the two residences and living areas. Essentially, you have a one bedroom unit (left hand side module) & a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house (the other two modules). There are no shared spaces and each residence has its own entry, kitchen, laundry, bathrooms and bedrooms. A great option for a dual income rental, or a holiday home with additional rental potential.
Includes: Removal of internal doors to separate the residences, kitchenette & laundry
facilities to unit 1, firewall & submeters
Includes: Firewall + Kitchenette + Laundry facilities + Upgraded HWS
Includes: Includes: Firewall + Electrical & Plumbing provisions (in walls)
for future kitchenette & laundry

Steve’s ChatterI am back on the road again and traversing the countryside from Bremer Bay to Dalwallinu and everything in between.
I can’t help but notice the dryness of land in most areas so have my fingers crossed that rain is just around the corner. Here’s hoping those farmers who had a good year last year see another great growing season and those who weren’t so fortunate, see a change in fortune come the end of harvest 2014.
I’m pleased to say that interest in the TR Homes range is very high and with our new designs hitting the market (The Homestead, Roebuck and Overlander), there are even more options for you and your family to choose from. It’s also pleasing to note the sale of homes coming through as a result of the Community Network Program. Thanks to our partners, some of the referrals they have sent through are now coming to fruition and I look forward to seeing the delivery of new homes to various parts of the State as well as the community funding that will flow back to those respective communities through our sponsorship program. It should also be noted that we endeavour to use as many local tradesmen as we can when arranging delivery of
the homes by way of providing services for site works, plumbing and electrical connections.
I am actively engaging with local government during my travels and look forward to getting up to Mingenew soon to check out the independent living unit that has arrived on site and Killara (3 x 2), both of which will be used to house visiting professionals and/or personnel working with the Shire. We have a number of tenders pending with local government and I’m confident you will see more of our quality homes landing in your respective community soon.
Land developers are also on my list and I regularly meet with representatives of different companies and/or government agencies to look at how we might work together to provide suitable house and land package options to prospective clients. Riverhills Estate in Toodyay is a great example of blocks that are fully serviced and picturesque. A TR home on this estate would look a treat and certainly provide a great environment for a family and/or provide opportunities for investors to put their client in to a high quality house in a terrific environment.
Give me a wave when you see me next in my travels throughout WA. n

YOUR GUIDE TO BUILDING IN REGIONAL WA
Known throughout the Wheatbelt for its Tin Horse Highway and their annual Kulin Bush Races, Kulin is now attracting attention worldwide.
Back in 2009 the Shire of Kulin took the initiative to convert its old bowling club into a hostel facility with the hopes to attract schools and groups for camps.
After bringing a program to Kulin and being impressed by the facilities, as well as seeing huge potential for what could be done with them, experienced Camp Manager Tanya Dupagne decided to leave her role as CEO of charity Global Good Foundation and make the move to Kulin to create and run the Camp Kulin program.
TR Homes has sponsored Camp Kulin over the past year, most recently sponsoring a scholarship camper to attend Camp Kulin and contributing towards the creation of a new camp activity the ‘Gaga Pit’.
Camp Kulin is supported by a team of volunteer camp counsellors aged from 16 to ’50-something’ who each have a diverse range of backgrounds, experience and interests.
They offer year-round Kids Camp programs for school camps and at risk children, engaging them in activities designed to teach them leadership, confidence, self-esteem, teamwork & trust. Camp Kulin also offers local programs for the Wheatbelt, including Weekend Camps, Day Camps and excursions.
