DESCRIPTION
A piece of information about TPSPTRANSCRIPT
Middle School Phase 1/Semester 1 • TPSP classes will be held twice a month
(1st Thursday and 3rd Friday) in home-room for 85 minutes
• Homeroom teachers will co-teach with a core enrichment teacher and work to-gether as mentors for the students
• Specific research skills will be taught during these designated times
• A designated binder will be used to house all TPSP materials
• On the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays, short homeroom periods will be used for TPSP review, quizzes, etc. This is @ 20 period
• The Student Profile of Renzulli Learn-ing System will be used as the Interest Inventory
• Eighth graders will have condensed re-search skill classes and begin an inde-pendent project at the 3rd 9 week pe-riod
Phase 2/Semester 2 • A TPSP time will be designated during
class time
• Teachers will designate specific due dates for the completion of assignments
• School presentations of projects will be on a specified date in the Spring
• Students will be introduced to pub-lished TPSP tasks or assisted with de-signing their own
• 6th and 7th grade student will complete small group or individual projects.

The TPSP is designed to help districts reach
the state goal for gifted/talented students:
Students who participate in services de-
signed for gifted students will demonstrate
skills in self-directed learning, thinking, re-
search, and communication as evidenced by
the development of innovative products and
performances that reflect individuality and
creativity and are advanced in relation to
students of similar age, experience, or envi-
ronment. High school graduates who have
participated in services for gifted students
will have produced products and perform-
ances of professional quality as part of their
program services.

• An excellent vehicle for fulfill-ing the State Goal
• Student projects are TEKS-based and focused but has in-terdisciplinary connections to the core content areas of Eng-lish, language arts, mathemat-ics, science, and social studies
• Schools and districts use the TPSP as an assessment to im-prove their services for gifted /talented students. The TPSP also provides summative and formative information on an individual G/T student’s learn-ing
• Taught in two phases
• Enables open-ended, authentic, and student-centered learning
• Scoring Dimensions or rubrics are used to describe the expec-tations
