ABB Turbocharging
The TPS. .-F turbocharger is designed
for high-speed diesel engines, small
medium-speed diesel engines and gas
engines (500 kW to 3,300 kW per turbo-
charger). Characteristics include:
Mixed flow turbine with nozzle ring forconstant pressure and pulse applica-
tions
Different radial compressor designs
covering the full range of pressure ratio
and volume flow rate requirements
Stabilizer technology
Single-piece, oil-cooled bearing casing
(also water-cooled for TPS48/ 52/ 57)
Internal plain bearing design with
squeeze oil film
Clamp connection flanges for
flexible casing orientation and easy
disassembly
Proven containment with burst
protection rings
Oil inlet and exit located at bottom
TPS.. -F turbochargers are available in
4 frame sizes (TPS48, TPS52, TPS57
and TPS61) weighing from 110 kg to
450 kg (without options).

The TPR61 is ABBs railroad turbo-
charger, designed for locomotive diesel
engines (up to 3,300 kW per turbo-
charger or 4,400 kW with a twin turbo-
charger solution). Special features are:
Compact, robust and rigid construction Uncooled gas casing
Integral axial turbine with blade-tip
winglets; no damping wire
Single-piece radial compressor with
backswept blades
High pressure ratio combined with very
high overall efficiency
Squeeze oil film damper
Free-floating axial bearing disc
Gas outlet casing with integrated foot
and drain
Unique, patented foot connectionThe TPR61 turbocharger weighs
520 kg (without options).
