Objective of Aapni YojnaThe ultimate mission of this project was to improve the health status of the target communities by providing safe drinking water and better sanitary conditions.

Project Coverage Aapni yojna will cover 1000 villages (1300 as

per census 2011) and 11 towns of Churu, Hanumangarh and Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan.

I’st Phase Which is in Operation and Maintenance stage is covering 376 villages and 2 town(taranagar and Sardarshahar) of Churu and Hanumangarh. It covers 7500 sq KM area and 10.13 lac population (census-1991)

Why it is different from Other Rural W.S.

Metered Water Supply, One BFM for each village.

Achievements Water provision round the clock to 376 villages and two towns Water availability in 92% of targeted villages. 98% of village clusters have legalised WHCs to represent

beneficiaries, and they have entered in contracts with the PMC for planning, operations and maintenance.

13 Paani Panchayat have been formed to protect the interest of villagers.

Reported water loss is in range of only 2% Over 90% pay regularly towards repair and maintenance. The

end line evaluation report shows 91% of the PSPs were functional and 84% of them had attendants to take care of them.

Threats

•Unwanted Political Interference•Tariff is not realistic comparative to O&M Costs•O&M in later age of the project failed•illegal connections made, due to lack of regulations.•Conflict started among the members of WHC.•Migration of members broke the WHC.
