History From the Very Beginning : -Sakichi Toyoda, the founder of the

Toyota group of companies, started Toyota as a textile machine company.

Launched first car in 1947

Toyota Production System formed in 1950 based on Just-In-Time principle.

Overseas production starts in 1959 (Brazil)

Ranked 6th in fortune Global 500 list.

Overview and The Golden period : -

• The Toyota Motor Company was awarded its first Japanese Quality Control Award at the start 1980s and began participating in a wide variety of Motorsports.

• In 1982, the Toyota Motor Company and Toyota Motor Sales merged into one company, the Toyota Motor Corporation.

• In the 1990s Toyota began to branch out from producing mostly compact cars by adding many larger and more luxurious vehicles

Becomes a major supplier of trucks to The

Imperial Army during WWII.

Plants were scheduled to be destroyed by

allies, but the war ended first.

Toyota had total net revenues of approximately 28 trillion Japanese yen (or about 252.8 billion U.S. dollars) in the fiscal year of 2016. In 2015, Toyota was named second most valuable corporate brand in Asia.
