Yesterday on a very chilly day, we hosted the Life Education van with Healthy Harold and Wyndham Public School. This visit gives the students are great day and a chance to socialise, hang out and make new friends with the Wyndham students. The day consisted of STEM challenges and sporting skills and learning opportunities provided by Healthy Harold. The K-2 students learnt valuable information on problem solving around situations that highlight safety. For example, recognising safe and unsafe environments, how to care for others and behav- iours that maintain friendships. The stage 2 students learnt about cybersafety, cyber ethics and building positive relationships on- line and offline. And the stage 3 students studied ‘On the case’ where they explored the effects of smoking, history, myths and facts, and influences and pressures. From feedback from the students at the end of the day, they all enjoyed the day and found Healthy Harold to be very engaging and fun. The students will all enjoy seeing their Wyndham friends in a few weeks’ time at the Athletics Carnival. A fortnight ago saw a visit from the Eden Area Gym with Zoe hosting classes for the students. With limited resources com- pared to her gym Zoe presented two very engaging lessons with the students performing various tumbles, rolls and handstands amongst other things. The students really got a buzz out of these lessons and there have been plenty of handstands and cartwheels rolling across the playground since. Zoe will be back next Monday and then we will be off the gym on the following day in Pambula which promises to be an exciting time. As always please come and see me if you have any questions, I am at the gate most afternoons and out in the playground in the mornings and am also happy to organise a more in depth chat in the afternoons if needed. We hope that all parents make the opportunity to work with their student with the student led parent teacher conferences coming up in Week 9. Contact the office if you need another form for that. Have a great rest of the week. Coming Events

Hello and welcome to week 7, I hope you are keeping warm with some rather cool mornings this week after some magnifi-cent weather during the long weekend!

From feedback from the students at the end of the day, they all enjoyed the day and found Healthy Harold to be very engaging and fun. The students will all enjoy seeing their Wyndham friends in a few weeks’ time at the Athletics Carnival.

Gymnastics ProgramNext week we have our gymnastics session at school with Zoe on Monday, and then Tuesday students will travel into Pambula for a session to use the gymnastic equipment there. The program concludes the following Tuesday with another trip to Pambula. The bus will leave around 11am and students will eat their lunch in town before travelling back to school in time for usual end of day routines. Please ensure that all pink gym permission notes are returned- check the reminder box on the front page to see if we are waiting on yours!Bournda Special DaysToday we have 4 of our senior students away at Bournda for the Marine Science Life on the Rocky Shore day. These special days are always very worthwhile and it’s wonderful that parents are able to assist with transport so that our students can enjoy these out of school learning opportunities.Fast notesWe greatly appreciate it when notes come back quickly and we are glad to be seeing so many students gaining an extra wildcard for returning any note the day after it comes out with the newsletter!NestsDon’t forget that once you have 4 eggs you can hand them in to be made into a nest to be presented at the end of term as-sembly. The last day to hand in eggs will be Monday 1 July.Athletics Friday 28 JuneComing up in a couple of weeks is the Far South Coast Small Schools Athletics carnival at Wolumla. Students need to be there by 9.15am ready for the marchpast of schools at 9.30am. Students should wear their red shirt and jumper and sport shoes. Don’t forget to bring warm clothes as it is often a cold/frosty start!Look for the red Towamba tent and flag and let the teachers know when you arrive.Students will be given a name tag to stick on their shirt- this is vital information for the SAMs in the recording tent all day.Wolumla P&C will be running a canteen and a menu will be at-tached to next week’s newsletter, along with the program and Towamba’s nominations. All students run in an age race of 100m. Students aged 8 and up are encouraged to have a go at the longer 200m and 800m events too. We actually get points for participation so it’s worth having a go. In the field events of high jump, long jump, shot put and discus there is only two per school per event and the select-ed students were determined after selection sessions at school. Younger students have a day of programmed activities as well as a running race. Parents and carers are strongly encouraged to attend to cheer our students on, and help with tasks on the day such as time-keeping etc. Check the Reminders box to see if we are still wait-ing on your note.NAIDOC Day at Jigamy Thursday 4 JulyThanks to those returning the NAIDOC permission note so quick-ly- and scoring a wildcard! Please ensure all notes and fees are

Hamburger DayNext week the P&C will run a hamburger day instead of the usual lunch orders. Burgers will be $4 and include bun and meat patty with options of lettuce, cheese, tomato and sauce. There are GF and vegetarian options too. Just write your order on a paper bag as usual. Friday Lunch OrdersTerm 3 is open for volunteers for Friday lunch orders. We en-courage more parents to get involved as it’s an easy job and a great way to be part of the school.

returned by the end of the month.Earn & Learn StickersDon’t forget for every three completed sticker sheets you will earn a wild card! Additional sticker sheets available anytime from the office desk. Occasionally we have loose stickers in the office for any keen sticker students! The sticker program finishes in a couple of weeks on June 25 and when we collect the Bega store box we will be looking for lots of extra sticker helpers too!Canberra Excursion Term 3The combined small school excursion to Canberra is organised by another school on our behalf. If you plan on attending this three day excursion then we need your EOI note and $30 depos-it in by the end of the term or sooner. The Friday cake raffles start on the last day of term. As well as the cake fundraising and the generous P&C dona-tion bringing the excursion cost down to $150 (from the full cost of $354) there is also a subsidy that comes from the Australian Government under the PACER SCheme. While in Canberra stu-dents will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $20 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.School counsellorSadly our school counsellor Katie Hedgcock has been reallocat-ed to a different set of schools but she visited yesterday to intro-duce our new school counsellor Ms Sam Hutchence.High School PaperworkYear 6 students have been given the enrolment paperwork for high school. Completed paperwork needs to be returned to the office ASAP so we can forward to EMHS.
