Anniversary celebrations coupled with the CPD programme and the very successful

Educational tour of Belgium and Netherlands in December 2014, the Board has organized an Educational tour of

Spain and France for Professionals in the Built Environment to share experiences on skills, technology and building

systems.

This Educational Tour includes: subsidized air fare on Brussels Airlines.

Subsidized Accommodation: 1 night on board + 2 nights in Barcelona + 4 nights in Toulouse all on Bed and Breakfast

Transport within cities by Air Conditioned Coaches for in-city tours + High speed train from Barcelona to Toulouse

and Travel Insurance.

TOUR PROGRAMME

4 June 2015 – 2h30 morning Visit near Brussels Airport

Flight to Barcelona is early afternoon; this gives time to visit

“LIVING TOMORROW CENTRE” an intelligent building

located near the airport and where a light breakfast will be

served.

Living Tomorrow is a unique concept in the world.

It’s a meeting place for innovative companies, where they

can show the visitors their products and services which will

improve our quality of living and working in a near future.

5 June 2015 – Barcelona: Full day Architectural Discovery

Gaudí's work is admired by architects around the World as

being one of the most unique and distinctive architectural

styles. Gaudi was born in 1852 and attained his Architectural

degree in 1878.

Most of Gaudí's constructions have a nature oriented look to

them. This basic concept of using nature as the primary

influences for his creativity is reflected in the use of the

natural curved construction stones, twisted iron sculptures,

and organic-like shapes.

6 June 2015: Visit of Camp Nou Stadium.

Today, Camp Nou is the largest stadium in Europe that has

more than 98 000 sitting.

In 2009, The firm of Foster & Partners was granted the

refurbishment main project. The remaining projects were

granted to the Claus Kaan Architecten (Netherlands), CRV

Architects (Sevilla), Ferre (Catalonia), GMP International

(Germany), Herzog & De Meuron (Switzerland), MAP

Architects (Catalonia), Martinez Lapeña-Torres (Catalonia)

and Sana (Japan).

7 June2015 – Full day Tour - Millau Viaduct - 909 feet high

/ 277 meters high - 1,122 foot span / 342 meter span

Drive through the Impressive Gorges du Tarn. (185kms)

The Millau Bridge and the Rion-Antirion Bridge are the most

modern and most important examples for series of cable-

stayed bridges. They are excellent examples of Engineering

resolutions of large span deflections and the response to

temperature and longitudinal forces. They demonstrate

responses to earthquakes.

Architects: Michel Virlogeux, and his firm led by Bernard Gausset of EEG, Sogelerg and Serf along with British

architect firm Norman Foster & Partners. (Lunch in a small village around. Confirm where this statement belongs.

8 June 2015 – Full day tour of Airbus Industrie: Detailed Presentation of the A380 programme. From a belvedere

built into the plant, enjoy the view over the interior and exterior general testing stations and over the whole site.

Drive through the Airbus Headquarters, the Pilot Training Center and industrial site will be conducted. Lessons to be

learnt include: the design offices, the development centres, the assembly sites for the A320, A350, A330 “families”,

the delivery centre.

9 June 2015 – Free day.

The day will be open for participants to carry out

individual visits and shopping.

Most of the streets in the Centre of Toulouse, and around

the hotel are pedestrians and is a Paradise for Shoppers.

Galeries Lafayette, Monoprix, Zara, Disney Store are a

few of the malls that offer variety items. All along, Cafes,

restaurants are available.

One should not miss the Central Market Victor Hugo for

an amazing food galore!

10 June 2015 Flight back to Nairobi

Brussels and onwards to Nairobi.
