Product Benefits:

The following procedures should be used for all of the primers and topcoats mentioned in this brochure*:

• Follow all manufacturers’ recommendations regarding surface preparation for their particular products

• Make sure the surface to be painted is free of dirt, oil, grease or other contaminants that may be present

• Lightly scuff sand the entire surface**

• Remove all sanding dust

• If the door is pre-primed, spot prime any bare substrate using the appropriate PPG primer listed below. Follow manufacturer’s directions.

• Spot test a small area for the desired results prior to painting the entire job

Touch-Up Products

PPG offers three types of touch-up solutions to meet your repair needs:

• Aerosol touch-up paint for larger jobs (12 oz.)

• Brush-in-lid bottles for quick touch-ups using a tiny brush applicator (0.5 oz.)

• Paint marking pens for pinpoint blemish repairs and assembly line production use (0.3 oz.)

For homeowners:

Repaint your front door*

Your front door completes your home’s look. Whether it’s simple and coordinating or expressive and noticeable, there is no better place to impact the look of your home than your front door.

1. Remove your door and place it on a sawhorses outside or in a well-ventilated area.

2. Remove your door hardware and hinges and cover glass accents or windows with painter’s tape. Clean the surface with a wet sponge, lightly sand** and wipe clean again.

3. Use PPG TIMELESS® Exterior Paint + Primer or GLIDDEN® PREMIUM Exterior Paint + Primer in a semi-gloss sheen. Apply using a foam roller, using a foam brush to paint any raised or depressed panels. Let the paint dry and then apply a second coat for a flawless finish using the same technique, starting at the center and ending with the sides. Follow manufacturer’s directions for proper dry times between coats.

4. Allow sufficient time to dry before hanging door in place. Reattach hardware and enjoy your beautiful new entrance.

Give your garage door a makeover*

Your garage can be an area of function and beauty. Accentuate your garage door by considering all of your exterior elements to choose the perfect color.

1. Garage doors can get grimy, so make sure you clean the surface thoroughly with soapy water and a sponge. Scrape loose paint, lightly sand** and then clean the surface again.

2. Cover windows or glass accents with painter’s tape, protect the floor with drop cloths and use PPG Timeless Exterior Paint + Primer in satin or semi-gloss sheen.

3. Paint recessed panels first using a 2 to 2 ½ inch-wide nylon/polyester brush. Wipe away excess paint that overlaps onto the stiles.

4. Use a roller to paint the stiles around the panels’ perimeter. Air dry according to manufacturer’s specification and then apply a second coat.
