Simultaneous Dual-mode Detection

What is a Bomb Blanket?The Bomb Blanket has been designed for use by both unskilled personn el as well as by skilled ExplosiveOrdnance Disposal (EOD) operators when confronted with a suspect explosive device in a public area.Bomb Blankets are made o f multiple layers of treated KEVLAR fabric and enclosed in a durable, waterresistant, flame retardant nylon cover. Four heavy-du ty nylon webbing loop handles make it easy tocarry the blankets.



Where can they be used?Bomb blankets p rovide a portable, flexible, lightweight and multi-purpose means of b allisticprotectio n. These are quite effective against shrapnel and fragments from hand grenade, bombs, IEDsetc. These are also particularly u seful during d e-mining operations and by bo mb disposal squads. Thisblanket is very versatile and can even be adapted to be used as a ballistic blanket during different modes of operation.

How should a Bomb Blanket be used?Th e exact method of use of Bomb Blankets varies depending upon the place of use, threat type, size ofthe bomb, terrain, etc. One of the suggested ways of use is as following:

REAL TIME VIEWING SYSTEM (RTVS):

• The Real Time Viewing System should be lightweight. Thesystem shall be compact and easy to set up.

Thermal Cutter

• The Thermal cutter shall be employed in situations where entry hole is toBe made on the IED to gain access to the contents. The typical use of thisequipment would be against soft skinned IED containers like plastic, rexene,

cloth, etc. The aim is to melt the outer surface b y employing heat on the skin of

these containers thereby removing a triangular section creating an opening.

• The equipment should have quick heating and should achieve its peak



temperature in less than 10 minutes.

iii) At other site conditions derating shall apply as per IS:7347-1974 with amdt.No 1 &2(reaffirmed 2006).

NOTE:-The firm shall establish through calculation that the Gen. Sets are suitable for theworst condition, mentioned above .

3. For Electric Start Genset :

a) The battery and battery charging unit o f suitable rating should be provided, dulymounted on Gen. set.

b) Motor Starter of suitable rating shall be provided.

c) The tenderers shall justify the compatibility of battery ratings and motor starterswith the respective engines.

d) The Battery shall be maintenance free.

NOTE:-Firm shall furnish the calculation for the suitability of the battery rating for eachmodel/ rating of Gen. Sets.



4. The Genset shall meet the requirement of Duty Type S1 (Continuous running duty)as per IS:12824/1989 (reaffirmed 2004).

5. The Winding temperature rise of the Alternator at rated load shall meet therequirements of IS 4722:2001.

6. The windings of the Alternator sh all withstand the Dielectric test and Insulation

Resistance test as per IS 4722/2001(Re affirmed 2006).

7. The generator shall be fuel efficient and shall give specific fuel con sumptionmeasured at rated load and frequency as under:
