totally crazy powerpoint presentation
TRANSCRIPT
Okay guys, can we talk about Delphine’s wardrobe for a sec? Has anyone else
noticed this?
Basically: Homegirl wears a lot of black and white. Like, a lot a lot. Like,
nearly-every-time-we-see-her-a-lot.
Black bra
Sheer white top
Totally Crazy PowerPoint
Presentation
In fact, the only seemingly notable exceptions occur in episodes 1x07 and 1x08:
Hella Red Skirt
Red Collar
Red Sleeve
Also Red Sleeve
Red Pants+ Bonus Red Belt
Interestingly, Delphine never seems to wear white or black. It’s almost always both.
(Silver is white. I promise)
Black/White Dresses
Black/White Top/Pants
Sheer White Top,Black Bra
But wait! She’s wearing only black in these photos.
Nope! This top is actually black lace with white underneath. Not much white here, but there is some.
No white here, but she is shirtless, which conveys a sort of vulnerability/honesty in the absence of an actual white top (plus, her skin is pretty white. Acceptable substitute?). Black is predominate again, because deception (i.e. swiped blood sample).
Okay, this is legit all black. Blue jeans and brown boots, yes, but no white to speak of. Definitely a bit concerning if we’re going with a hypothesis of white=truth and black=deception (which I am…mostly).
I’m rather unsure of what this means – or if I’ve even described this color accurately – but I do find it interesting that in both of these scenes Delphine betrays Cosima (albeit with the intention of helping her) and in both instances she wears a bluish/lilac article of clothing (underwear in 1x08, shirt in 2x01).
Other Exceptions: Bluish/Lilac?
WTF color is this? Seriously though.
Any theories on the purple robe, clone club? Special significance because it actually belongs to Cosima?
In Conclusion
• While in some shows this could be chalked up to coincidence, this is Orphan Black. Meaning this shit is deliberate.
• Somebody who knows color archetypes really well should dork out and write something intelligent about this.
• I have no idea what color Delphine’s top is in 2x01.• Silver may not actually be white.• Creating a PowerPoint presentation is surprisingly
time-consuming.
