Toro Downhole Tools Reaches a New Milestone!

From our beginnings in a small business park in Houston, Texas, Toro has grown into a major Motor Rental and Downhole equipment Sales company located in the heart of Tomball, Texas.

With over 150 years of Downhole Motor expertise and representation literally all over the world, Toro has provided competitive and cost effective drilling equipment to dozens of companies from Canada to South America, from Japan to the Ukraine.

Now, in 2015, Toro Motors have reached a new milestone, drilling over 5,000,000 feet with a Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of over 4,400 hours. This is a highly accomplished goal, one that Toro continues to strive towards in offering the most reliable tools in the market.

In 2014, Toro began utilizing elastomer compounds manufactured by DRILEX, a name recognized for over 40 years as an industry leader in Motor Power Sections. DRILEX offers three different elastomer compounds:

DRILEX DHR - a hard rubber formulation with excellent mechanical properties, designed to achieve maximum power and torque from the power section. DHR elastomer provides optimal performance for both water-based and oil-based applications and can operate in temperatures up to 350°F DHR is also suitable for conditions that require enhanced abrasion, chemical and thermal resistance.

DRILEX DST - designed for most water-based and oil-based drilling applications, DST is an economical solution for less demanding applications and is suitable for use in temperatures up to 350°F.

DRILEX DHT - suitable for use in high temperature applications that exceed 350°F. It is formulated to achieve maximum life at higher temperatures over the DST and the DHR elastomer compounds, capable of operation in temperatures up to 400°F. Made in the USA, DRILEX elastomers are an excellent complement to the Toro Motor.

Along with the industry demand for higher differential pressures, Toro has increased the reliability of our Motors with improved component design and higher strength materials. Also, Toro now offers shorter Motors, with a bit-to-bend of 52”.

Additionally, Toro is introducing our new SBX MotorTM reducing the bit-to-bend to as short as 48” while also eliminating a threaded connection in the lower assembly!

And Toro is introducing a new Extended Life MotorTM specifically designed for vertical drilling to meet our goal of One Motor, One Bit!TM.

All these improvements to the Toro Downhole Motor provide increased differential pressure, significantly more power and torque, while increasing downhole operating life and ROP while lowering customer drilling costs.

2008— Toro is established in Houston, TX

2011—Toro moves into new facilities in Tomball, TX

2012—Toro reaches capacity in its Tomball, TX facility

2013—Toro establishes a 110 hour continuous Motor run drilling with Air in West Virginia, setting a record.

2014—Toro utilizes DRILEX Power Sections in our Drilling Motors, building upon the reputation and reliability of DRILEX quality and power!

2014—Toro develops new Motor designs and configurations that continue to set records for life and reliability!
