Explanation of SIMPLE PAST TENSE

The simple past: Was and Were

We use this tense when you want to talk about something at a definite time in the past: yesterday, last night in 2006 .

The past simple of be is "was" or "were": the form depends on the subject as it is almost always the caseEnglish has two types of verbs in the past-Regular-Irregular

Affirmative sentence

To make affirmative sentence with the verb to be in this tense you have only to use: was or were

Negative sentences

To make negative sentences with the verb to be in this tense you have to use:

was+not (wasn´t) orwere+not (weren´t)

Once he had finished high school in Dearborn relocated to Detroid to work as an apprentice mechanic, after becoming expert be hired by a company and making good money started production of prototypes and finished by leaving the industry to become yours.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS.Henry was in his youth one of the best watchmakers

of his people, in addition to having been hired by Westinghouse to service their tractors and then the company EDISON than 2 years later it become manager.

Built several companies and was chief of another few until later founded his great empire, the company ford.

DEATHFord suffered his first heart attack in 1938, after which he gave the address of his company to his son Edsel, after the latter's death in 1943, Henry Ford came out of retirement. However, with an already deteriorating health, ceded the presidency to his grandson, Henry Ford II in September 1945, and retired completely.

He died in 1947 of a cerebral hemorrhage at age 83 in Fair Lane, and is buried in the Ford Cemetery in Detroit.

ON THE NIGHT OF HIS DEATH ROUGE MICHIGAN RIVER HAD FLOODED POWER STATION AND HAD LEFT THE HOUSE WITHOUT ELECTRICITY FORD, SO BEFORE GOING TO BED, HENRY AND HIS WIFE LIT CANDLES AND OIL LAMPS TO ILLUMINATE THE HOUSE. LATER THAT NIGHT, JUST BEFORE DAWN, HENRY FORD, THE CREATOR OF MASS PRODUCTION, DIED IN THE SAME ATMOSPHERE IN WHICH HE HAD BEEN BORN 83 YEARS EARLIER, WITH THE LIGHTING OF CANDLES.
