Top Color Trends for a Boys Bedroom

When most people think of a young boy’s room, they most likely think of blues.  But, this isn't your only color option you can choose from.  Instead, there are many other colors which will bring in a sense of cheerfulness, other colors that will make the room more masculine, and even more colors that will match what they love in life.  If you want a few ideas on color schemes to use besides the plain old blue, continue to read below for a few cool ideas.

Chocolate Brown and Turquoise

In this example, it would be for a younger boy, single digits.  The room is enveloped in stripes - both skinny and fat, with colors such as khaki, chocolate brown, sky blue, turquoise blue, etc. down the wall.  The curtains on the windows are also a chocolate brown color, alongside a deep brown plush sofa.  You can also add some whimsical objects here as well since it’s for a younger boy like a giant stuffed giraffe, a zebra print throw rug, and even a few tables which look like African drums.  Tie it all together with a pretty print on the wall to help mesh all of the colors together and add a few blue and tan pillows to the couch and you have a very cozy, sweet and warm place for your little one to play or sleep.  Stripes are really in right now, so even if you don't like these specific colors, but you can find 4 other colors you really like together, you can use those as well.  Just make sure you do different widths of stripes.

Hot Orange

Orange of any shade seems to go really well with khakis and tans.  In this example, you have a dark wood floor, a tan rug, tan comforter and tan walls.  Then you can add splashes of hot orange all around the room, starting with the drapes on the windows and little cubby cubes for his games, books or whatever else he likes to collect.  You can even put a really cool surfboard or skateboard on the wall if he is into one of those sports, and make sure you find one that has orange accents on it - and then put it on the wall behind the bed to bring everything together.  Another cool example is orange, white, and gray.  Here you would have orange as the accent for things like the pillow on the bed, bookends on a shelving unit, a picture frame on the desk and the desk chair.  The gray would be placed on the wall behind the open shelving unit - you can even have someone come in and do a mural of something like the sketch for Wrigley Field or whatever sport your son likes.  Then the white would be the color on the shelving unit, the carpet, the bedding, and the window coverings.

Red and Khaki

Red and khaki have a very modern and yet sporty look to them.  One way to incorporate red and khaki into your son's room is by adding a black half-moon carpet to the end of the bed, and finding a red and khaki comforter.  But, if you can't find that you can try for a tan and black or white and black comforter with a red throw, a black headboard, khaki curtains and a black desk.  You can also find these really cool "stick on" murals that will incorporate your kids love for something like soccer and be able to incorporate the colors into the room.  In this example, you have youngsters playing soccer on a green field with red and white jerseys, white the other team is wearing black and white - the whole scheme of the room in one picture.

Chocolate And Citron

Citron is being nice - this is yellow-green, think of a tennis ball and then you will know what color that this is.  But, don't shy away from this section just yet.  Citron by itself is an eyesore for sure.  But, add in a dark and brown color like Chocolate Brown and it’s a great way to add color to a room without having it be blindingly bright.  The brown sort of dumbs the citron down to a bearable bright.  Since this color is synonymous with a tennis ball, it might be a really great option if you have a son that loves to play tennis.  In this example, your interior painter in Morris County would tape off intricate squares and rectangles on the back wall and paint that Citron.  The rest of the wall would be

chocolate brown.  Then you can add in shelves to the walls for his trophies and awards, a bedside lamp that is citron and white, and a few dumbed down citron pillows for the bed including white sleeping pillows in crisp linen.  The rest of the bed would include a lighter brown fitted sheet, lighter citron pull up sheet and the comforter would be chocolate brown to pull it all together and make it look layered. If you are looking for more ideas for a boy’s bedroom you should contact a house painter in Morris County NJ, or in your town. NJ house painters are skilled at choosing the best colors for every room.

Hopefully, these three example color schemes proved to you that a boy’s room doesn't have to just be blue - no matter what their age is, what colors they like or even what sports they like, you always have options to add those colors to their rooms and still accomplish what you want to.
