・National investigation shows that Fukui Prefecture has continued to show very good

results in children’s scholastic ability and physical strength.

・Every home, community, and school has their own traditional culture and stable

environment. They work together to support children and make a strong network,

which promotes high-level education.

・In order to help children achieve their dreams, Fukui Prefecture promotes“１８ years of

education” which continues from birth until high school graduation.

◆In Japan, Ministry of Education investigates scholastic ability of elementary school and junior

high school students.

◆In that investigation, students in Fukui Prefecture have continued to get highest scores.

●Substantial Training for Teachers at School

◆Some teachers go to graduate school at Fukui

University for continued education. In order to

overcome problems at school, graduate school

teachers have continued lesson study for two

years at school with teachers （ national

model ） .Experienced teachers go to Fukui

University to learn how to teach younger teachers,

and younger teachers learn a lot from them at

school

◆Good atmosphere motivates teachers

◆Teachers receive training in how to teach reading

comprehension and knowledge application in

accordance to international student assessments.

Teachers of Elementary school, junior high school,

and high school observe lessons together. This

lesson study style is called “18 years of education”

●Lerning Origins of Chinese Characters

◆Students enjoy imagining ancient Chinese life in

class, then they learn the origins of Chinese

characters. This way of learning helps students

memorize and write Chinese characters correctly.
