Tea has been around for centuries. It came from a plant called Camellia sinensis, has different varieties and hasbeen enjoyed by people all over the world. Not only is it a refreshing treat, it also has numerous health benefitsthat make drinking it more enjoyable. Whether you prefer it hot or cold, here are eight health benefits of tea.

1. Good source of antioxidants. Antioxidants are chemicals that helps get rid of toxins that attack healthy

cells in the body. These toxins quicken the ageing process and causes diseases such as cancer. To fight these

toxins make sure that you get a healthy dose of antioxidants by drinking tea.

2. Has less caffeine than coffee. Coffee is the main source of caffeine. However a cup of coffee may contain a

lot of caffeine for some people. An eight ounce of coffee contains 135 mg of caffeine while a cup of tea onlyhas 30 to 40 mg. If you need some caffeine fix but still want a good night’s sleep, tea is a good choice.

3. Prevents osteoporosis. Aside from antioxidants, tea also has phytochemicals that helps keep the bones

strong. Studies have also found that older people who drank tea daily were less likely to suffer from

osteoporosis and have denser bones. Have some milk tea to give your bones a calcium boost.

4. Boosts the immune system. Tea was found to strengthen the immune system of its drinkers. The nutrients

in tea can help fight off infection, thus preventing you from getting sick. And if you are already sick, research

has proven that tea drinkers recover five times quicker from colds than those who don’t.

5. Protects the teeth. Not only tea is good for the bones, it is also good for your pearly whites. Tea contains

fluoride and tannin that repels plaque. So if you want to maintain a pretty smile, make sure to include tea

drinking as part of your dental regimen.

6. Good for hydration. It is advised to drink at least 8 glasses of fluids per day. Why not include tea as part of

it. Not only is it healthier than plain water it is also less of a diuretic than coffee. To stay hydrated during the

day, go for eight glasses of fluids and a cup of tea.

7. Less calories. If you’re sensitive about the calories you’re taking in, plain tea is a good choice. This isbecause tea doesn’t have any calories unless you add some milk or sweeteners in it. If you want a healthier

beverage with lesser calories, go for tea.

8. Increases metabolism. As mentioned above, tea does not help you become fat because it doesn’t have any

calories. As an added plus, tea also helps in losing some of those extra calories by increasing your metabolism.

So if you’re working on having a slimmer body, combine tea drinking with proper exercise for a good and

effective combination.

being. To make it more effective, make sure that you combine it with proper diet and exercise.

”If you are cold, tea will warm you. If you are too heated, it will cool you. If you are depressed, it will

cheer you. If you are excited, it will calm you.”
