Top 5 Most Powerful Backlink Tools

Building backlinks (incoming links) to your website is one of the most

vital activities that you can do when it comes to improving your SEO

(search engine optimization) and search engine rank.

For those of you who are new to link building and the concept, here is a brief description of what

it is and why you want to do it. Search engines rank every single website that is on the internet.

There are many things that go into the result of your website’s final score, but the one thing that

webmasters know for sure is that having many quality backlinks (links coming from another site

to your site) will increase your SEO.

Search engines use this criteria to judge just how good your site is. If you have other sites linking

to you, then it must mean that you have valuable information that should be ranked highly. And

if your site is ranked high, it means that you will come up first in the search engines when

someone does a search for terms that are relevant to your website/business. This will translate to

your website getting more traffic, more sales and more income.

There are many different ways to acquiring backlinks although this is usually time-consuming

and frustrating, but it does pay off if you are consistent and you keep track of your movement.

That’s where the backlink check comes in.

There are many different options out there when it comes to checking your backlinks and your

page ranking on the major search engines such as Google or Yahoo.

Top 5 Most Powerful Backlink Tools

1. SmartPageRank- http://www.smartpagerank.com

Smart PageRank’s gives you quick access to powerful SEO tools. It allows you to check out site

stats from Firefox with their own toolbar and a whole bunch of data. Scrolling over the various

categories you can find out the ranking, PageRank, the Dig PR, the availability of the domain

name, backlinks, and the value of the site. Searching through their page you can find even more

information. Any back information on a site you’d want to know you can find through searching

their site.

3. LinkHounds- http://www.linkhounds.com/link-harvester/backlinks.php

LinkHounds Backlink Information sorts results based on the IP address, thus showing only

unique IP/domain backlinks. The tool allows to exclude any domain from the results and also to

set the query depth. For each individual result you will also see useful quick links to whois data,

site web archive, Google cache, and exact pages where the backlink was found as indexed by

Yahoo.

There are plenty of backlink checkers online that do nothing more than export the data from

Yahoo SiteExplorer or Google. There are still a few ones that offer information in a way that

helps you categorize and organize it more effectively, and LinkHounds does the trick.

4. Backlink Watch – http://backlinkwatch.com

BackLinkCheck.com will give you the link popularity you are looking for in Google, Yahoo,

MSN, AltaVista and All over the Web on just about any search engine. You can also see how

your URL rank in relation to other websites on the Web in terms of link popularity.

5. Yahoo – http://yahoo.com (enter link: http://domain.com) to check backlinks

Yahoo is a little different as it does not have a separate site to check your backlinks and it only

checks out your stats on Yahoo.

To check your backlinks on Yahoo, just type in “site:www.yoursitename.com” into the Yahoo

search engine. Then click “web search”. You will see the results further down where it shows

you your “Inlinks”. Just click on this tab and you will see the details about the links that are

coming to you. If you want to filter the results even further to make sure you are viewing only

the links from other websites (and not within your own), then just click on the drop-down menu

that says “from all pages” and change it to “except from this field”. Now you will see all of the

links that are coming to you.
