To me, accuracy when making a Top 10/Top 100 all time list is extremely important. My lists are not based on my own personal favorites; they are based on the true greatness and/or success of the person, place, or thing being ranked. My lists are also based on the opinions of experienced professionals who are involved in whatever I am ranking. For example, many professional and/or famous actors, directors, writers, and producers believe that "The Godfather" is the #1 movie of all time. Their opinions, along with the film's success (awards & nominations), and its true greatness from a directing/writing standpoint, is why I ranked "The Godfather" at #1. If you guys would like to view my other Top 10/Top 100 lists, feel free to check out my YouTube page and/or my IMDb page at "ChrisWalczyk55." Over the past year, this list has boomed in the Google search engine, and is widely considered the most viable and most influential "top 100 movies" list on the web. At the same time, this list has triggered a significant amount of controversy regarding the movies that I selected. First off, please understand that Oscars and Oscar nominations are only a small factor that I use to rank each movie on this list. More importantly, the movies on this list are ranked according to their lasting popularity, and their true greatness from a direct- ing/writing standpoint. Second of all, I understand that some of the most popular and most widely liked movies were made over the past 20 to 30 years, and are mainly based in the Action, Adventure and/or Comedy genre. What the viewers of this list have to understand is that the majority of professional and/or famous actors, directors, writers, and producers know and understand that the greatest movies of all time were made during the early to mid-1900s. Action and Comedy movies are very entertaining, but what movie critics have to understand is that they lack every single great aspect of the most legendary movies ever made, almost all of which are on this list. If you strongly believe that another Action, Adventure, or Comedy movie should be on this list, I do have a "top 20 movies" list for every genre of film. I recommend that you check out these other lists, and understand why some of your favorite movies did not make the cut. THANKS, AND DON'T FORGET TO LIKE! Honestly Chicago needs to be dropped from this list and the Empire Strikes Back needs to be slipped in

somew here... Also I am shocked you w ould be so ignorant as to truly think that foreign f ilms somehow shouldn't

be included on something titled "Top 100 Greatest Movies of All Time (The Ultimate List)"... I've read your

arguements and do not agree w ith you at all. Truthfully this just looks like you've comepletely copied Scorsese's

list from his w ebsite then put your name on it w ith a couple changes.... I shall leave you w ith this: You Sir and

your list are highly inacurate

Well, indeed, I agree that foreign movies should be included, and there are many class ones that

w ould doubtlessly replace from the list many of the American ones, no matter how good but inferior

to countless French, German, Italian, British and even Russian famous feature f ilms.

Hey Chris, love the list man. The majority of the movies that are on the list are definitely in my top 100 greatest

movies of all time. Some of the older movies like, "Yankee Doodle Dandy", "The Maltees Falcon", and "Mr. Smith

Goes to Washington" I have not seen so I have no comment on them. But I w ill plan to w atch them. Some movies

that " I " w ould have added w ould have been,

-The Big Lebow ski

-The Shining- (Happy to see that, "Clock Work Orange", w as on the list,)

-Master and Commander

-James Bond Goldfinger

-Good Will Hunting

-The Great Escape

-Zulu

-Animal House

-Metropolis

-Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

-Gangs of New York

-The Longest Day

-Shutter Island ... See More

you put Chicago over Platoon, To kill a mocking bird, Pulp f iction and Taxi driver? come on man, I like alot of your

picks and w here they are situated but Chicago shouldn't even be on this list, Dark knight too. What about dog day

afternoon, Appaloosa or Terminator 2? Comedies can be great f ilms too, Dumb and Dummer deserves a spot on

this list for sure. I give your list a very generous B-

he didn't say to kill a mocking bird or pulp f iction and taxi should not be on the list. he said Chicago

should not be higher rated then those movies.

Where is Full Metal Jacket? And just because of nominations and aw ards does not give validity to being a great

movie. Its your list do w ith it as you please.

The problem w ith claiming some sort of objectivity for this list (as you do in the intro) is that it cannot be done w ith

art. It is a very subjective judgement. No matter how "professional" one is, the judgement is necessarily a

subjective one. That having been said, it's a decent list (I w ould agree w ith about half of them) except for one

thing: it is far too America-centric in the choices. What about great non-American directors like Bergman,

Kurosaw ae, Ray, Truffaut, etc? And then there are all the amazing independent American directors such as John

Sayles w hose w ork easily surpasses some of the titles you mention above. So the list should be titled "best

Hollyw ood movies" or "best popular American movies."

Reply · · Like · November 5 at 6:03pm1

juliusil (signed in using yahoo)

Indeed, it looks from the list as if only USA produced the f ilm industry..... w hich is as far from truth as

possible.. That makes the name of the list, "Top 100 Greatest Movies" erroneous, but if to alter it to

"Top 100 Greatest American Movies", the list w ould be just OK.

I'm really surprised that L.A Confidential and The Dark Knight aren't on this list. It's a much better list than the

AFA's list though. Zach is right, Good Will Hunting deserves to be on this list as does Traff ic.
