Located in Russia in southeastern Siberia west of Yablonovy Mountains, the Baikal Lake is the

largest freshwater lake in Eurasia. It covers an area of 31,494 sq. km. the Baikal Lake is also the

deepest freshwater lake in the world, having a maximum depth of 1,620 m.

seal, omul salmon, and certain rare animal species that exists only at Baikal. The lake, called the
