10. Annotations- fill in or not??

• An annotation is a summary about the source, the author of the source and how you will use the source in your project– Complete only if your teacher specifically asks you

to do so

8. Citing sections when it is NOT appropriate

• For books or article types—editorial? Abstract?

• Do not cite sections of a book—cite the ENTIRE book.

• You cite the page you use in your notes. Be careful about sections of newspapers and other articles like abstracts—be very certain.

4. Confusion with Authors names

• If none what do I do? Use anonymous? • More than one? • Initials in names?

– Read the Help link in Noodletools. – Do not use anonymous unless it specifically is

used in the source. – If there is no author—just leave it blank. Only list

the first three authors if there are more than that listed. Be sure to use periods . after initials ex. H.L. Jones.

3. Wrong or missing Publication Information

• EX: City of publication—confuses it with publisher OR omits it OR includes the state NOT just the city.

• EX: Copyright date—confuses it with the date of an article previously in print or other numbers on the page OR can’t find it on web pages!

• EX: Publisher- confuses it with city of publication OR too much of information in that field OR can’t find it on web pages OR Missing– Look over your source carefully—read any headings/labels

provided by the vendors. For web sites look at the very top and very bottom of the web page—click on the words-ABOUT. For books—use the title page of the book FIRST!! (not the back of it) to get all the important information, only look at the back for information you cannot find on the Title page.)

types a few times to determine which is the appropriate type.
