Landing Page Best PracticesLanding pages are incredibly important in any integrated marketing campaign. Great landing pages can deliveramazing conversions. The information you gather about prospects can be used for targeted marketing campaigns inthe future. Landing pages are also very important when advertising with AdWords as the landing page will be a newvisitor’s first impression of the products and services you offer.

Landing pages have different purposes – some are lead generation forms and some are product feature pages. While there are no restrictions on what a landing page should include, there are some general rules of thumb youcan apply to ensure a high conversion rate.

Top 10 Landing Page Tricks to Improve Conversions Rates Click To Tweet

Here are our top 10 landing page tips:

#1 The headings

Make sure the heading of your landing page matches the ad visitors clicked on to get to that landing page. This point

is very important because you really don’t want to confuse your website’s visitors. If they clicked on a link todownload a free eBook, then make sure the heading of the page is relevant to the action which visitors need to take.

#2 The message

The message of the landing page should be only one – very clear and focused. Think about the one message youwant to communicate to your website visitors.

#3 The text

Keep the text simple and easy to read – bullet points are great. The text on the landing page should be easilyunderstood so it makes the message clear in the shortest amount of time. Don’t use jargon unless they are widelyacceptable in your particular industry.

#4 Calls to action

There have been many speculations on what calls to action work the best. I recommend to keep it relevant andmore exciting than “Click here”. Use words which will make visitors more excited to click that button. Don’t forget tomake the button big and position it above the fold if possible.

#5 The forms

Don’t get greedy with lead generation forms – only ask for the information you need and after you gather the crucialcontact details, contact subscribers again to ask for more. I know it’s more tedious but if you want conversions youneed to respect visitors’ desire to receive what they have been promised fast and trouble-free. A name and an e-mailshould be enough at this first stage. We all know that over 60% of people lie about their details when filling out aform with over 75% say they would never include their real date of birth.

#6 The content

Remove irrelevant content – many times I see business owners insert information which takes away from the coremessage. I understand that you want to tell everyone how amazing your product is but overwhelming people at thatstage with unnecessary information will not deliver great results.

#7 Testimonials

Create a sense of credibility by inserting a testimonial. Some marketers believe that testimonials don’t really matteras much now because they can be easily faked. I agree, so I suggest insert a testimonial and a link to their personalpage on Linkedin or even Facebook. Don’t link to your mother or a cousin, especially on Facebook where everyonecan see. It will send the wrong message and probably ruin your reputation.

#8 Social proof

Social proof via social networking websites. This one used to be very important until business owners started buyingthousands of fake likes and shares. If I am to create social proof, I would include social shares via Linkedin oranother professional platform as Facebook and Twitter can be easily manipulated (only if you are in the B2Bindustry).

#9 The risk

Reduce the risk by offering a free trial, a free consultation, a preview of the book you offer or some sort of guaranteewhich will make people more confident to press the submit button. Really think about what the potential risk for yourpotential customers is and what you can do to lower that risk.

#10 Create trust

Trust by association – can you include any logos of professional bodies or credible partners in your industry youwork with to increase visitors’ trust in your services? Please keep this real and relevant otherwise it will look ratherdodgy.
