The AVA is the peak national body representing the Australian veterinary profession, delivering a range of services and benefits to over 9,000 members.
Our members are veterinarians in practice, industry, government and academia. For nearly 100 years, we’ve represented vets in every corner of Australia – and we always will.
As Australia’s only collective voice for vets, we are experienced advocates and active leaders on all issues of animal health and welfare.
The AVA’s ‘East Coast Roadshow’ will run throughout March and will visit Queensland, NSW and Victoria on three separate weekends. The Queensland Division Conference will be held on 11 March 2017 at Picnic Point, Toowoomba, Queensland.
The theme is EMERGENCY and steams will include both large and small animal medicine, followed by a fun-filled gala dinner.
Located on the edge of the Great Dividing Range, Picnic Point Toowoomba is situated approximately 700 metres above sea level, and has a proud history of hospitality for locals and visitors alike.
In the past, Picnic Point was popular for its cans of fresh mountain air, the camera obscura and Peters ice creams at the kiosk. These days, Picnic Point has a very contemporary feel, so sit back, relax and enjoy the view.

AVA Queensland President welcome
It is with a great deal of pleasure that I invite all veterinarians to attend theAVA Queensland Division Roadshow and annual meeting.
The theme is EMERGENCY with streams on small and large animals.
We have a very strong continuing education program for delegates builtaround our international speaker, Dr Erica Reineke from University of Pennsylvania. We will also be hosting many other local speakers in our large animal stream.
The heritage listed Picnic Point Lookout in Toowoomba is the gateway to the Darling Downs and ideally positioned perched high on the crest of the Great Dividing Range, with panoramic views over Main Range and the Lockyer Valley. The trade exhibition, lectures and gala dinner will be held at Picnic Point.
We encourage you to book your accommodation at the Toowoomba Central Plaza with whom we have negotiated special pricing for roadshow attendees. The Toowoomba Central Plaza is 5km from the conference venue and also happens to be walking distance to Fitzys on Church, the main watering hole for the roadshow, should you wish to pop in on Friday evening to catch up with colleagues.
This will be a wonderful weekend of updating your emergency medicine knowledge.
I look forward to seeing you in Toowoomba.
