The core components of the system are the fully motorized antenna platform and the Smartphone acting as antenna control unit. The smartphone is connected to the tooway® modem via WiFi and to the motorized antenna platform via Bluetooth. The advantages of this innovative approach are as follows:

• Extremely high pointing accuracy through automation of the high precision manual pointing process, supported by a specific motor control electronics

• Pointing speed increased by use of smartphone sensors like GPS and compass

• Simple operation

• High reliability and excellent service support by extended remote control and remote upgrade capabilities (software upgrade server implemented)

• Cost efficient solution

2. Operation

At first the flightcase shall be roughly positioned in a way, that it is standing stable on the floor. In case of heavy wind the direction of the wind shall be parallel to the long side of the flightcase

After opening the cover the feedarm shall be mounted on the motorplatform. The feedarm is fixed by a single screw, which is fixed without tool. In the next step the reflector is mounted on the backstructure. The reflector is transported in a separate lightweight flightbag. It is fixed by five screws without tools.

Modem, router and power supply are mounted inside the cover of the flightcase. The cover of the flightcase protects the electronics from rain and other environmental issues. The cable between motor platform and flightcase cover has a length of 20m. In the flightcase cover is the connector for the 240V prime power

After connection to prime power on the smartphone the button Start Auto Search shall be pushed. After reduction of the Az search range by suitable reading of the compass values the smartphone MMI shows the different steps of the pointing process. A ONLINE sign confirms the completion of the pointing process. The duration from unpacking to operation is approx. 5 Minutes.
