items can really improve theexperience of the people we help.

Here are just some of the ways that thefunds you raise will be spent:
£5 can buy a set of toiletries for one ofour residential clients.
£10 can buy packs of seeds for ourcommunity garden project 'PenroseRoots'.
£25 can buy a kitchen starter packincluding a kettle, toaster and crockery.
£50 can pay for a day employabilityworkshop for one of our clients.
£100 can help us to hold a health andwell being day at one of our services.
Here at Social Interest Group, we makesure that every single penny you raiseis put to good use. Whether it’s £5 or£5,000, know that you are reallymaking a difference to the lives ofthose we support.
What can the money you raise buy?
By using Gift Aid you can make your donation go further at no extra cost toyou. Using Gift Aid means that for every pound you give, we can claim an extra25p from the government. Please tick the Gift Aid box when you submit your
donation form and money.

Set a target. You should aim to raise at least three times theamount your event costs. Try to keep expenses to aminimum by getting items or services donated or discounted.
Step by step guide to becominga fundraiser
You have alreadytaken the first step bymaking the decision
to fundraise.
Think about what activity youwould like to do and whetherthis is a ‘one-off’ event, like abake sale or if you intend to
fundraise long term, liketraining and completing for a
marathon.
Make sure you tell us about yourevent so that we can send you any
materials you might need i.e.sponsorship forms, poster
templates, collection tins, or t-shirts. This will also allow us to
support you throughout.
Ensure there is enoughtime for you to arrangeeverything you need tobefore the event. Thisincludes training for
sporting events.

Making your event safe and legal
It is illegalto carry out a house tohouse or public street
collection without a licence.
If you want to do a collectionon private property for
example, a train station,supermarket, you will needto get permission from the
manager. Social InterestGroup will need to see
written proof that you havepermission to collect in any
private premises.

For larger events you mayrequire first aid cover. Theamount of first aid cover
required will depend on thesize of your event. Do check
with your local council foradvice. First Aid providers you
might like to try include: StJohn Ambulance

If you arehaving alcohol and/or live music
at your event you will need toapply for a
temporary event license.
Licensed premises, for examplepubs, bars and restaurants shouldall be fine. If you need to apply for
a temporary license,please contact your local council.
If you are holding a raffle and have a single prize worth morethan £200 or you are selling tickets prior to the date of your
event, you may need a license. Please contact your localcouncil and look at the website
www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk for further information.
