Toni Benetton was born on the 16th February 1910 in Treviso.

1927- He realizes one of his first works on commission, “Croce passione di Cristo” (Passion Cross), for Cavriè’s church (TV). He does the projecting angels on the outer wall of the S. Francesco church.

1943 – He takes part actively in the libe-ration fight, by founding a group which enters in the Brigata Chiarello and by effecting sabotages on the railway lines which the Nazis used for exports.

1944 – Operating under the cover of the worker cooperative for mechanical reparations, he succeeds in saving many military men and a lot of missing allies from the Nazis.

1945 – On the 28th April, he attacks with his men the foundry of S. Maria della Rovere, defended by the SS, which he conquers after after eight hours of hard battle. The republicans had organized in the foundry a shunting station for the civil prisoners, whereas the Nazis used it for protection for their retreat.

1946 – He realizes a war memorial for the municipal of Montebelluna. He renounces the appointment as teacher at the Pacinotti Institute and he devotes to iron manufacturing.

1946/48 – It is constituted the La Rossi-gnona association in Treviso. He joins to the association with other artists of this area, and he exposes some of his works at the first art exhibition of this group.

1950 – His first personal exhibition is hol-ded at the Galleria del Libraio in Treviso.

1952 – He plans and realizes with his friend and architect Giovanni Barbin, the mythical circle lab where he esecutes all his works until 1967.

1953 – He meets Giovanni Fallan, art expert and friend of Arturo Martini, in Va-tican Mons. and Fantuzzo in Treviso Mons. Those will give him many appointments in the following years, to realize works of art in the Roman church Figlie della Chie-sa and in the church Gesù Agonizzante in Vittinia.

1954 – He realizes for Treviso’s cathedral, a sculpture in bronze which represents the Pontiff St. Pio X. He takes part in the exhibition of contemporary art in Treviso.

1955 – The sculpture Cerbiatto is com-missioned to him, which is posted in the fountain in front of the municipal of Pieve di Cadore. He paritcipates in the second regional exhibition of art carica-tures, and wins the gold medal.

1957 – First prize at the second Triennial of the Bureau des Arts in Paris. Here he wins the gold medal by the I.C.E. . He participates at many works at the 11th Triennial of Milan, where another gold medal is given to him. The art gallery Cairola in Milan, dedicates to him a per-sonal exhibition, critical text by Giovanni Comisso. He creates the altar-antepen-dium and the Christ for the sanctuary S. Maria delle Grazie in Belluno. For the Marinotti collection in Tai di Cadore, he realizes Gruppo di Caprioli (Group of roe deers) in copper and cantilevered. The town of Pieve di Cadore appoints him to create a sculpture to put in front of the municipal. For Vicenza’s Chamber of Commerce, he realizes a series of panels dedicated to work. He esecutes a big portal in iron representing The Judge-ment of Solomon, for Vicenza’s Palace of Justice.

1958 – Personal exhibition in Venice, at the art gallery of the Fondazione Bevilac-qua La Masa. He exhibits on the occasion of the exhibition of contemporary art in Treviso. He fullfils a war memorial for Val-dobbiadene. He realizes the work Airone in iron, placed at the sport-center C.O.N.I. Giulio Onesti all’Acquatosa in Rome, which has become the italian symbol for School of Sports. The museum of modern art Cà Pesaro in Venice buys the work of art Cavallo ferito (Injured Horse, 1957/’58).

1958/’59 – In the Sanctuary in Capaccio (SA) he creates a series of twelve panels representing Christ’s entrance in the olive garden, his arrest, and his presentation to Pontius Pillar.

1960 – He wins the Luigi Lanci prize for sculpture in Macerata. In Forlì he wins the the first prize for representative art. He fills with big figures the Solomon Garden in of Solighetto, on the trevigiani hills, by picking up a suggestion from the archi-tect Carlo Scarpa. At the presentation he receives well-deserved praises from Sergio Bettini, Diego Valeri, Andrea Zan-zotto. He realizes “The Depositino” for the monumental cemetery of Vicenza and a sculpture for the park S.Andrea in Treviso. The mayor of Treviso donates the work Fante del Piave (Infrantryman of the river Piave, 1958) to the President of the Repu-blic G. Saragat.

1961 – The museum of modern art in Duesseldorf, the Hirschhorn Museum and the Sculpture Garden in Washington buy some of his works of art. He participates by request at the Lanzi di Macerata Pri-ze; the same town buys the plastic group “Figure”, which is placed in the public gardens. He wins the Corridonia-prize for his work “Figure”.

1962 – In Suzzara he wins the National Prize for Sculpture. Personal art exhibi-tion at Belluno’s Civic Musuem, presen-ted in catalogue by Giovanni Comisso. Other personal exhibitions in the art gallery Riviera di Treviso and at the Bevi-lacqua La Masa.

1963 – At the international show-room Trigon in Graz (Austria), he represents Italy with his work of art Le Monache (The Nuns) and he holds a conference at the symposium in Eggenberg Palace. He wins the gold medal at the exposition of the 17th fair of Pordenone.

1964 – He participates as italian dele-gated at the Art’s World Congress in New York (U.S.A.). In the same year he realizes some works for the Protestant church of S. Giovanni Evangelist in Bad Godesberg (Germany). The president Bourghiba commissions him for some works to place in the Toser’s oasis in Kairouan and in the hotel Aghlabites in Tunis.

1965 – He participates by request at the International Quadriennial in Lindau, in Germany, where he recieves the Great Prize for macrosculpture. He participates by request with a personal exposition in Linz (Austria) where the Bulgari Square is dedicated to him, today Benetton Square. He esecutes a big bronze sculpture for the Bolzacchini di Rivoltella collection at Lake Garda. On the occasion of the visit of Princess Margaret of England, the town of Treviso gives her as a present a work of him. He realizes a war memorial for the alpino group of Arcade (TV). He’s invited to take part in the jugder commission of the Biennial of Metal Art, in Gubbio. He realizes a war memorial in the second formation at the military airport in Treviso.

1966 – Invited by the scultpor Edgar-do Manucci and by appointment of the Ministry of Public Instruction, he holds a conference for the teachers of the Art Institute in Spoleto. He esecutes works in Ireland. Some of his works are posted in the crypt of the Temple of Cavarzano (BL) and in front of the Hotel Berta in Montegrotto Terme (PD).

1967 – He moves with Ada Allegro, young pupil who became his girlfriend, to Mogliano Veneto. Here he had bought a eighteenth century villa surrounded by a huge park, where he puts his macro-sculptures. In proximity of the villa, on the other side of the river Dese, which divides the province of Treviso from the province of Venice, he builds a very well equiped atelier. Solicited by the requests coming from all over the world, he founds and directs the Accademia Internazionale del Ferro (International Iron School), where he holds courses of high art specialization. At this courses partecipate many artists from different countries with special scholarships. The-re are many cultural personalities at the inauguration. The inaugural speech is holded by Guido Perocco, director of the Cà Pesaro Museum in Venice. He exhibits some of his works with his friend and artist F. Batacchi, at the Giraldo Gallery in Treviso. He realizes for Casa Toniolo in Treviso, a memorial tablet for mons. Longhin, bishop and patriot.

1968 – By request of the U.S.A. Consulate, with his International School Of Iron, he prepares the exhibition “The iron-sculp-ture in the city of tommorow”, in Trieste. He holds a conference on the same topic in the Chamber of Commerce in Treviso; chairmen: the critic S. Maugeri, the ar-chitect G. Barbin, F. Batacchi, Simon and Toni Benetton. Always with the School of Iron, he prepares in the cloister of the Temple S. Caterina, the big review “The iron sculptur for the architecture and for the new man”.In spring, he’s invited by the Minister of Culture to go for the first time to Prague, for a meeting with the students of the School. He’s invited to the art exhibition in Assisi, where he receives a prize. He realizes a monument to the Mother of the killed soldiers, for the alpi-no group in Crocetta del Montello (TV). The President of the Republic confers an honour upon him: Commendatore of Order of the Italian Republic. He realizes a big portal for Abano Terme’s Cathedral (PD). He partecipates by invitation at the Biennial of Holy Art, in Rome, Milan and Bologna.

1969 – He wins some competitions for works of art in public buildings. He ese-cutes a big embossing panel in copper for Assicurazioni Generali in Padova. He partecipates at an art exhibition with some great works, like “The Drama at the International Gallery of New York”.

1969 - At the art gallery “Encounter with Vicenza”, he presents the exhibition “The rests of Toni Benetton”. The german col-lectors Guenther Jackering from Hamm Westf and Hans Riegel from Bonn, buy many important works of the first period of the Master. He esecutes, on commis-sion of the priest of Marocco, the big portals of the church and a work which is posted on the church-square.

1970 – Milan and Treviso and the Europe-an Foundation of Milan, organize the first anthological art exhibition of his works. The exhibition is equiped in the plant of the Rotonda della Besana, and is directed by G. Mandel, L. Bortolatto and C. Munari. By commission of the Lions Club, he executes for the Civic Museum of Trevi-so, a portrait in memory of his friend and writer Giovanni Comisso, who died one year before.

1971 – The villa in Mogliano is frequented by numerous intellectuals: the writers Giuseppe Berto, Domenico Rea, Leonar-do Sinisgalli, Gino Bogara, Neri Pozza, the artists Cadorin, Francesco Messina, Ma-scherini, Pizzicato, the architects Marcello d’Olivo, Giovanni Barbin, Paolo Portoghe-si, Giuseppe Davanzo, Carlo Scarpa, the critics Franco Solmi, G. Carlo Argan, Giu-seppe Marchiori, Palma Bucarelli, Marilena Pasquali, Luigina Bortolatto, Fred Licht and many others. He exposes his works “From liveable to self-moving” in a perso-nal exhibition in his villa in Mogliano.

1972 – The Hakone Open Air Museum in Tokyo buys two works: the prelimina-ry sketch of “The Big Sphere” and “The nuns”, who are acclimatized in an area of 3000 square meters”. The Beelden aan Zee Museum, in Scheveninger (Holland), buys two sculptures: “Walking Woman” (1958) and “Portrait of Ing Pitacco” (1953). He presents to the communal administra-tion of Venice, the first proposal for the city portal, a huge structure, planed for the area between the big thoroughfares for traffic of Marghera. The project, with the approach of execution, will be stop-ped because of divergencies between the political exponents of the committee. He executes “The Way Of The Cross” for the church in Albarella.

1973 – He houses in the huge park of his villa, the presentation of Giuseppe Berto’s last novel “Oh! Serafina”. Perso-nal art exhibition in the galleries Forum di Zagabria and La Galassia di Milano. The directors Andrea Pagnacco, Lucio Rosa and Guido Vinello present a film about the evolution of the works of Toni Benetton and about the creation of the International School Of Iron, at the first edition of the art-film festival in Asolo. The film wins the prize. He exposes at the 19th International Exhibition of Sculpture, which is holded in Castellanza’s Modern Art Museum.

1974 – He exposes at the International Fair in Lindau (Germany). For the televi-sion cycle “Education in Italy”, the direc-tor Glauco Pellegrini, shoots a documen-tary about the sculptures of the Master called “Veneto, opened museum”. After Zavattini watched this documentary, he wants to get to know Toni Benetton, and he will say: “It’s hard, and beauty to find a friend”.

1975 – The town of Treviso, organizes an anthological exhibition in the Cà Noel Museum and exposes other works on the squares of the city; presentation on catalogue by F. Solmi, G. Marchiori, G. Mazzotti e L. Bortolatto. He’s invited at the Biennial of Bronze in Padova, where he exposes “The Big Sphere” and “At the end of time in Prato della Valle”. He rea-lizes the macrosculpture called “The En-counter”, which is located on the square behind the regional hospital of Treviso. He marries Ada Allegro, in Treviso. Their son Giovanni, borns one year later. On the occasion of the third International Art-Film Festival, he exposes on the squares and the streets of Asolo.

1976 – He esecutes on commission, the monument for the blood donors of the quarter of Fiera, in Treviso. At the same time, he realizes a monument for the Italian marines for the town of Mogliano Veneto. By request he partecipates at a personal exhibition in the Cultural Center of Longarone (BL).

1977 – The Modern Art Gallery of Bolo-gna, organizes a personal exhibition for him and asks him his partecipation at the internationl conference for studies of iron arts. The Kratky Film of Praga, shoots a documentary called “Fireflowers”, in his atelier and villa in Mogliano Veneto. The director is Petr Ruttner. He partecipates, by request, at the Pontano Prize in Napoli, where he receives the gold medal. Invited by Franco Solmi, he partecipates at the 31th edition of the Michetti Prize in Fran-cavilla Mare. He esecutes several works on commission, for the chapel of the Padre Leopoldo’s house, in Rovigo. Personal exhibition at Regina Cornaro’s Castle in Asolo.

1978 – Collective exhibition in the com-munal park of Belluno. The comunne buys the work “The Cathedral”, which is almost 12 metres high. In the Cultural Center of Burano (VE), he exposes in the S. Barbara Room with Virgilio Guidi. He’s invited at the first exhibition of Toscana Sculpture, in Stia nel Casentino, directed by Armando Nocentini.

1979 – On the occasion of the visit of the Pope Giovanni Paolo II in Treviso, he realizes the work in iron “Santa Caterina”, which the mayor donates to the pontiff as gift of the town.

1980 – He partecipates by request, at the Art 11 Fair in Basel. He represents Italy at the Craft Council, big international symposium which is holded in Hereford near London. Here he holds a conference about the history of iron. The commu-ne of Mogliano Veneto patronizes the opening to public, of the anthological art exhibition in the Marignana Villa. He partecipates at the second edition of the Toscana Sculpture exhibition in Stia. He donates two works to the Lercaro Foundation of Bologna.

1981 – The meetings between Benet-ton and his friends and critics from the East-European countries become more frequent. Also the official invitations from the Czechoslvovak Ministry of Culture become more frequent. In Prague he establishes friendly relations with the manager of the Jiri Kotalik Museums, and with writers and intellectuals. A big personal exhibition is prepared in the Ita-lian Institute of Culture in Prague, where he presents officially the project for a big monument dedicated to the soldiers killed in Lidice. The Kratky Film of Prague shoots a film about the work called “The remembrances of the memory”, directed by Petr Ruttner. RAI dedicates to him a special report in the 7th instalment of the telecast called “Let’s try to fly”, where the Master illustrates his researches and his studies about his artistic activity. The Lions International confers him the Gol-den Lion Prize. He’s one of the founders of the Beppi Mazzotti Literary Prize.

1982 – He partecipates by request, at the international itinerant exhibition “Towards A New Iron Age”, prepared at the Victo-ria and Albert Museum in London, and afterwards in other English and American museums. He exposes by request in the museums of Memphis (Tennesse), Flint (Michigan) and Carbondale (Illinois). He takes part in the jury of the Literary Prize of the Gambrinus Mountain dedicated to Beppi Mazzotti.

1983 – He exposes by request, in the museums of Charlotte (North Carolina) and at the American Craft Museum of New York. He’s invited at the itinerant exhibition, organized by the Quadrien-nial of Rome, in Arabia and in Middle East. He partecipates by request, at the Art Quadriennial dedicated to the small Italian scultpure, prepared in the national museum of Lagos. He exposes at the na-tional exhibition of open-air sculptures of the Pagani and Castellanza Foundation, and at Ebelsberg Gallery in Linz (Austria). He exposes at a collecitve exhibition of contemporary artists in the S. Caterina Church and at the exhibition “Artisti Trevi-giani of the first half of the 20th century” in the Bailo Museum in Treviso. Collective exhibition in the International Center of Visible Art, in Udine. Personal exhibition at the S. Giorgio Gallery in Mestre. Ano-ther personal exhibition at the Policletti Gallery in Pordenone. He realizes some sculptural panels for the Clare’s Mona-stery of Rome. He creates a big meridian with the signs of the Zodiac, for the Sile s.p.a. industries of Casier (TV). For the inauguration, the poet Andrea Zanzot-to gives the work a poetic-sentimental motivation, which will be written out in a catalogue.

1984 – The Gazzettino commissions him a work for The Gazzettino Prize, which will be handed to the tennis-player Bjorn Borg. Antological exhibitionat about the bronze, terracotta and wax sculptures, at the Fioretto Gallery in Padova, with the support of the commune and of the councillorship of cultural goods. The com-mune of Mogliano Veneto dedicates him a personal exhibition called “The Bronzes of Toni Benetton”.

1985 – Antological exhibition in Canada, organized by the Italian Culture Institute of Toronto. He partecipates by request, at the exhibition “Four generations of Venetian artists” at Harrod’s of Buenos Aires and in other cities of Argentina. He presents to the municipal administra-tion of Venice, a second idea for the city: The Sail, planed for the motorway of S. Giuliano; also this project will find unsur-mountable obstacles.

1986 – Invited at the 42th Art Biennial of Venice, he presents two sculptures, “The Big Sphere” and “The Column”, which roused remarkable interest. Personal exhibition but also with works of the deceased Tono Zancanaro in “The Village of Flowers” in Spinea. The town buys the work “Giraffes”. Anthological exposition organized by the commune of Castelfran-co Veneto, which will buy the work “At the End of Time”. RAI realizes a docu-mentary about the exposed works, where the violinist Mario Brunello esecutes for the first time an improvized concert with a Bach theme and with the accompani-ment of Benetton who tolls the work “The big iron spring”. The town of Linz com-missions him to realize a bust of its mayor.

1987 – Anthological exhibition called “Toni Benetton, sixty years of his life dedicated to art”, organized by Banca Popolare (a Bank) of Asolo and Montebelluna on the occasion of the opening of a new seat in Treviso; the Bank will buy three works: “Manta”, “Giovanni” and “Sitting Wo-man”. Some of his works are exposed in a collective art exhibition in Philadelphia (USA). The President Ronald Regan re-cieves as a present from the commune of Mogliano Veneto, the work in bronze “Na-ked”, on the occasion of his visit in Venice. Antonio Barzaghi dedicates him the book “Promethium in Villa”, after some conver-sations with the artist, which made a very good impression on him.

1988 – He’s co-protagonist of the exhibi-tion “The Benettons, two lives for iron”, prepared in Piazzoni Palace and on the squares of Vittorio Veneto. His works are exposed in some Australian cities, during the the art exhibition called “Art Today The Australian bicentenari.

1989 – He houses the big exhibition “Pi-ranesi’s engravings and the veduta of the 18th century in Rome”, in his villa. Invited at the Art review in Cibiana (BL), he exe-cutes “Composition”, a four meter high sculpture, which the commune will buy afterwards. He realizes “The Cathedral”, a seven meter high steel work, for the Cà la Ghironda Foundation (BO).

1990 – On the occasion of his 80th birth-day, he’s celebrated by the city of Venice with an encounter with the Quercini Stampalia Foundation, where his third project for the city is presented: Benet-ton for Venice. The civic administration decides to destinate an area adjacent the Liberty Bridge, until the 30 meter high structure is builded. The project will be illustrated to public with two exposi-tions, prepared in galleries of Venice and Mestre. During a party for his 80th birth-day, organized in Preganziol in Franchet-ti villa, the province of Treviso confers him a gold medal, and the critic Enzo Di Martino holds a inaugural speech about his work. Maser’s psychography cen-ter assigns him a gold plate. The poet Antonio Bruni and the composer Alfredo Tisocco create “Ferrofania”, a musical ex-cerpt, which uses the percussion effects obtained directly by the works exposed in the park of the villa. He partecipates at the international Iron & Art conference in Vittorio Veneto, which dedicates him a day of honour. He recieves the charge to realize a commemorative medal on the occasion of the Tizian Celebrations. He esecutes the original drawing for the cards of the Fenice Omaggio in Veni-ce, which before where illustrated by Sciltian, Brindisi, Minguzzi, Cesetti, Music, Blatas, Fiume and Sassu.

1990 - He realizes a work for a multiple, which will be the Personality Prize dedi-cated to Beppi Mazzotti. He’s charged to plan an element to realize in glass for the Murano Prize. On the occasion of the International cinematographic Art exhi-bition, organized by the Biennial at the Lido of Venice, the works “Casinò” and “The Columns” are exposed. He’s elected to be on of the components of the cultural commission of the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation.

1991 – The School of Art of Turnov (Czech Republic) organizes a school trip to the permanent anthological art exhibition of Mogliano Veneto. In Helfstyn (Czech Re-public) the symposium “Iron-Art” opens with documentaries and slides about the Master Toni Benetton, illustrated by Dr. Ian Mohr. The town of Cortina organizes an anthological art exhibition in the Terrazza Cortina and on the streets of the dolo-mitic center. In Sicily, the town of Troina inaugurates the itinerant exhibition “Oasis for an open city”. An evening is dedica-ted by the Rotary Club of Catania, with projections and conferences, to the work of Toni Benetton.

1992 – At the Carraresi’s House in Tre-viso, the anthological exhibition “Toni Benetton, years and forms 1935 – 1992” is prepared. “La Save” houses an exposition inside the Marco Polo airport of Venice. He meets the Nobel prize winner Rita Levi Montalcini in Milan. The director Mau-ro Zardetto realizes a documentary about his work called “Poem of iron and fire”, produced by Art Movie for an art-cycle sponsored by Philips.

1993 – He’s invited in Stia nel Casentino (AR) for an exhibition of his sculptures to place in the city, on the occasion of the National Art Biennial. The exhibition is directed by the Urban Faculty of Floren-ce. Friends and art-historians of Prague number him between the founder mem-bers of “Friends of Museums”. He expo-ses in New York at the ICE art exhibition “Between lagoon and Dolomites”, in Park Avenue 499. He’s invited to Artest, first contemporary art exhibition at the Fair of Udine, where he exposes some of his macrosculptures. He partecipates at the itinerant exhibition called “Goldoni put in writing”, which is holded in Treviso, Innsbrueck, Prague, Bratislava, Lubiana, Zagabria and Venice.

1994 – Personal art exhibitions in the S. Giorgio Gallery of Mestre (VE) and in the Artesegno Gallery of Udine.

1995 – “The Giants” of Toni Benetton keep the Pergine Castle busy for six month, in a exhibition attended by Franco Batac-chi and Theo Shneider-Neff. During this exhibition, the “Ferrofania Performance” is presented, which is as ymphonic iron suit with musics composed by Alfredo Ti-socco, text by Antonio Bruni and with the partecipation of TA’MMITATAN ENSEM-BLE. The performance is recorded on CD. He partecipates at the first Modern Art Biennial (mediterranean meetings) in Du-brovnik, where he wins the aboslute prize for sculpture, with the invitation to expo-se his works at the Dubrovnik Museum.

1995 - He’s invited to the internatio-nal Biennial of small bronzes and of the small sculpture, in Padova in the Giotto gardens, with two new big works: “The Solids”. The Cassamarca commissions him the work “Perception of the memory” to commemorate the killed soldiers of the Second World War. The work is placed in Treviso. The Hangar editions publics the book “Signs and Dreams”, with thoughts and drawings of the artist. The book is presented by Andrea Zanzotto, in the Canova library. Other presentations will be made in many other venetian librari-es. Another editorial presentation of the artist with Enzo Gambato and Ivo Prandin in “10 portraits of the artist, pictures and words”. On the occasion of the Gambri-nus Prize he’s commissioned for a gold-smith creation of the place of the prize, which will be reproduced in jewels of gold and diamants. He takes part in the jury of the International Nantostone Symposium. Rossana Boscaglia quotes him betwe-en the big artists of the first generation in the Catalogue of Italian Sculpture n° 10, Mondatori edition. The Bailo Museum of Treviso buys the work in iron “Self-Portrait” (1950/56). This work is placed between other five works, which were bought previously.

1996 – He participates with an own stand at the Art Fair of Bologna. Toni Benetton dies on the 27th of February because of supervened complications after a heart operation. The promotion and divulga-tion of his art continues now with the society “La Marignana srl”, founded by him with an expositive seat and study center in his villa in Mogliano Veneto (TV). The Modern Art Museum of Dubrovnik dedicates him a big personal retrospecti-ve exhibition of open air sculptures. The Lions Club Mestre Castelvecchio remem-bers him with an exhibition called “Signs and Dreams”, where drawings and small sculptures are exposed. The “Il Traghetto” gallery exposes the plastic group “The Solids” in campo S. Maria del Giglio (VE), on the occasion of the 47th Biennial of Venice. To pay homage to Toni Benetton, the international symposium “The Art of Iron” is inaugurated in New York, with a documentary where his art is illustrated by the critic Stephen Bondi, with a series of slides. From June, the film “Poem of iron and fire”, produced by Art Movie, is transmitted on the intercontinental flights of Alitalia with apposite monitors inside the air terminals of Milan, Rome, Venice and Naples.

1997 – The municipal gallery of Con-temporary Art “Al Montirone” of Abano Terme dedicates him an anthological art exhibition. On the occasion of the exhibition of the artist’s works in Podestà Palace and in Signori Square, the Provin-cial Administration dedicates him a round table conference in Carraresi’s House, with the partecipations of Stephen Bondi of the California University, the architect Manlio Brusatin of the University of Veni-ce and doctor Eugenio Manzato, director of Treviso’s Civic Museum. In memory of Toni Benetton and of his iron sculptures, the Library Cultural Center “Diogene’s Area” of Milan, dedicates him an evening. Starting from the phrase of the master Laotsu, “the heavy is the origin of the light, the quiet is the origin of any move”, this evening tells about the sculptor, known and loved for his iron works. Students of the “Accademia delle Belle Arti” of Carrara and Venice write graduation thesises about the works of Toni Benetton.

1998 – The “Art Scremin Gallery” of Bassano dedicates him an anthological exhibition. The jewels, which the artist had realized and had never been exposed, are presented during this exhibition. The presentation of this jewels arouses a lot of interest, because the goldsmith produc-tion of the Master was unpublished until yet. His works are exposed at the itinerant collective exhibition “Women’s Perfume” in Saint-Jean Cap-Ferrat (France). Some of his works are exposed at Bergamo’s museum and near Lake Garda. The wor-ks “The Solids” are exposed during the collective art exhibition “An animated iti-nerary, the walls of Treviso”. His art is pub-blished on guides like “Veneto, paese per paese”, “Gente Viaggi” and on the major daily newspapers and weekly magazines dedicated to art.

1999 – Thanks to the engagement of the wife Ada, the Toni Benetton museum, the commune of Mogliano Veneto and the Veneto Region, a wish of the artist beco-mes true in the villa museum Marignana: the first edititon of the exhibition “Euro-pean Sculpture Lab for Young People”, where many artists of the Art Schools of Prague, Strasburgo and Venice participa-te. The evening of honour of the 11th edi-tion of the Giuseppe Berto Literary Prize is holded in the Toni Benetton museum and in the halls of villa Marignana. The Union Lido dedicates him an exposition in Jesolo, from June to September. Middle and large works and a special section for jewels are exposed during this event. The “Art Museum of the Italian Generation of the 20th century” is inaugurated in Cento (FE). The preliminary sketch of the work “The Column” is placed in the “Anni dieci (1900-10) Room”. The town of Treviso places “The Big Sphere” on the rotatory of Via Roma (Roma Street). A student of the Tokyo University writes a graduation thesis about Toni Benetton.

2000 – Villa Marignana Benetton be-comes the seat of the Toni Benetton Museum, legally recognized with Regional Decree. It adheres at the European initia-tive “Printemps des Musées”, where the adhering museums offer free entrances on the same day. An important perso-nal exhibition called “Toni Benetton, the sculpture”, is holded in Bergamo. There’s the European sculpture exhibition in Bad Aiblin (Germany), from May to Octo-ber. Three macrosculptures and some projects of the Benetton, represent Italy. The commune of Spinea (VE) organizes a exhibition about the topic “The generatrix Lines”.

2001 – The “Al Traghetto Gallery” of Ve-nice, presents some of his works during the Art Fair in Bologna. The Hotel Hilton of Milan, presents some big sculptures and a series of small works during his 6th exposition. Some of his works are expo-sed in the collective art exhibition “Medi-terranean” in the Pohjanmaan Museum, in Finland. The “Bailo Museum” of Treviso dedicates him an exposition with dra-wings and sculptures.

2002 – The Toni Benetton Museum with the collaboration of the commune of Mo-gliano Veneto organizes the 3rd edition of the exhibition “European Sculpture Lab for Young People”, where the Schools of Madrid and Venice take part in. A docu-mentary about the works of the Master is presented during the Asolo Film Festi-val, in the section of films about art and artist’s biographies. The documentary is produced by RAI. In Treviso there’s the exhibition “Toni Benetton – dialogue with the city”, where the big sculptures are placed in a street forniture context.

2003 – The manager of the Komensky museum of Prerov (Czech Republic) and Marcela Kleckerova organize an art exhibition called “Plastiky a Kresby”, in the Helfstyn Castle in Moravia. The exhibition becomes itinerant and is housed in many other czech museums. The commune of Fano, with the collaboration of the pro-vinces of Pesaro and Urbino, presents a personal exhibition of open air sculptures entitled “The thaumaturge Sculptor”.

2004 – The 4th edition of the young Biennial called “European Sculpture Lab for Young People” is set in the Toni Benetton Museum. Young artists of the Schools of Art of Prague and Venice par-ticipate. There’s a round table conference during this event about Venetian Villas.

2005 – The commune of Treviso buys the work “The Big Sphere” and it is put exactly on the place, which the Master thought and studied.

2006 – For the 10th anniversary of the artist’s passing, the city of Mogliano Ve-neto organises an exhibition at the Brolo Cultural Centre, named “Dialogue with animals”, and a conference with Prof. E. Manzano, Arch. T. Follina and Prof. Zara-mella as speakers. During the internatio-nal conference on “Plaster Cast museums and history”, the Canova Plaster Cast Gal-lery of Possagno presents an unpublished exhibition: casts, portraits and figures na-med “T. Benetton Testimonies”. The town of Combai (Belluno) hosts the exhibition “Tribute to Toni Benetton” for the Autumn Gatherings, with an introduction by Anto-nella Alban and Dino Marangon.

2010 – To celebrate the Centennial of Toni Benetton’s birth, the Veneto Region gathers a committee to set up several events. At the “12th International Biennale of Architecture”, the “Venezia” pavillion hosts an exhibition, organised by Nico Stringa and Carlo Sala. The “Friends of the Italian Cuisine Academy” dedicate two culinar events at the Toni Benetton’s Museum in Mogliano Veneto, the event is named “How to enter the world of Toni Benetton, who would be a hundred years old”. In December, the presentation of the book “Toni Benetton’s Landscapes” (pu-blished by Allemandi) takes place at the Biennale’s Venetian seat, introduced by G. Bolognaro, G. Dal Canton, A. Restucci, A.M. Spiazzi and N. Stringa.

2010 - The city of Mogliano Veneto orga-nizes the event “Conversations with Toni Benetton” with A. Tabaro, A. Madaro, C. Sala, E. Lizier, G. Benetton as speakers. His work is part of the exhibition “Artists’ Workshops – Padua and Veneto in the Nine Hunreds” by the Eremitani Civic Museums, Padua.

2011 – The Palazzo dei Trecento, Treviso, hosts an exhibition named “Toni Benet-ton – a livable sculpture”, curated by Nico Stringa and Carlo Sala, catalog ed. Allemandi & C. At Villa Brandolini, Pieve di Soligo, the Fabbri Cultural Centre dedica-tes an exhibition named “Remembering Salomon Garden” curated by Carlo Sala. The City of Mogliano Veneto and Toni Benetton Museum present the DVD and website “Travelling with Toni Benetton, the Iron Way from Cortina to Venice”.The City of Venice settles two macro-sculptures: “Le Anime” and “the Great Co-lumn” at the Park of San Giuliano, Mestre.

In the Venice Civic Tower takes place an exhibition named “Toni Benetton – doors to the mainland”, sketches and preparato-ry drawings (1974-1989) for the project of the San Giuliano area. At the Toni Benet-ton’s Museum the poem-reading “Ferro-fania” is performed, poetry by Antonio Bruni, symphonic suite by Alfredo Tisoc-co, vocals by Giovanni Bari and Antonio Bruni, live mixage by Mauro Martello. The City of Asolo pays homage to the artist, using his work “Linee Generatrici” in the advertising of “Asolo meetings XXXIII International Chamber Music Festival”.

2012 – The Lions Club Téchne of Mestre (VE) donates to the city the work “Tran-sformation of the Circle”, to be placed in Piazzetta Pellicani. The Japanese Museum “Utsukushi-ga-hara Open-Air Museum” places in its park the scaled sketch of “the Great Sphere” (1973).
