If I can assist in anyway, please contact me at [email protected].

WHAT IS THE LION FUND? The Lion Fund is a tax deductible appeal to support our school and help bridge the $1,500 gap between tuition and the true cost of a St. Mary Magdalene’s education. Tuition revenues do not cover the entire operating budget of the school. The Fund is the best way possible for parents, alumni, parishioners, grandparents, faculty, parents of alumni and friends to help make a financial difference in the future of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School. WHY DOES OUR SCHOOL NEED THE LION FUND? Annual giving is an essential part of all institutions. In order to continue the success of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School, The Lion Fund was created to enhance educational programs and resources not covered by tuition fees. Your gift is a vote of confi-dence for the faculty, staff, board, and volunteers. WHY IS PARENT PARTICIPATION SO IMPORTANT? Every year we strive to achieve a goal of 100% participation from our families with The Lion Fund. For SMMCS to apply for grants, outside funding sources such as potential donors, corporations and foundations want to know that St. Mary Magdalene’s families support the school before they are willing to commit their dollars to us. For that reason, EVERY GIFT COUNTS! HOW ARE THESE FUNDS USED? Gifts to the Annual Fund contribute to the school’s operating budget, this includes:
Retaining and attracting experienced and devoted faculty Keeping tuition lower in order for more families to give their children a Catholic education Providing resources and advanced curriculum for academic excellence Upgrading and Maintaining our facilities and equipment, including athletics, technology, and security Providing sibling discounts
DOES MY GIFT MATTER? Yes! Every gift, regardless of size, is important because it shows support for SMMCS. Your gift is an expression of confidence in our school and assists in maintaining the quality and affordability of a St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School education. HOW CAN I DONATE? You can make a one-time donation or monthly payments. We accept check, MC,VISA,and Discover. Pledge forms are also available in the front office, the at-tached link or by visiting the school’s website at www.smmcs.org.
Halloween Class Parties! Class parties for our PreK through 5th grade classes will begin at 2:00pm on Tuesday,
October 31st! Your Room Parents will contact you with more information. Parents
and friends of SMMCS are welcome to attend. Please just remember that ALL vis-
itors MUST be VIRTUS certified and need to sign in through the front office be-
fore going to a classroom. Also, there are to be NO SIBLINGS in attendance during
classroom parties.
As for Halloween Costumes—Please keep in mind that the basis of our school is Christianity; therefore,
all costumes need to be appropriate. If there should be any questions about appropriateness, please call
the school.
If we feel that a costume is inappropriate, the student will have to remain in the office until something
more appropriate is brought for him/her to change into.

What is Steps for Students? Steps for Students is an annual event benefiting the 59 Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Galveston- Houston. This exciting day of family fun includes a 5K USA Track and Field Associa-tion sanctioned race and post race party. The goal of Steps for Students is to unite the greater Houston community to raise awareness of the benefit of a Catholic education and provide much needed resources for our Catholic schools. Over 12,000 people come together each year to raise in excess of $1 million to meet these needs. What does Steps for Students support? Registrants have the opportunity to join a school team, designate their registration fee, less a $3 race entry-processing fee, to that school and solicit donations. Sponsorships for the race and any undesignated registration fees or pledges support the Archdiocesan Tuition Assistance Pro-gram.
The Archdiocesan Tuition Assistance Program is a commitment that the Archdiocese makes to keep Catholic schools accessible, available and affordable to all families. This commitment is the hallmark of our faith and service in regards to the educational mission of the Church. With 59 schools, serving over 19,000 students, the network of Catholic Schools is the largest private school system in the state of Texas.
St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School exists to develop students who have academic strength, strong moral values and a deeper understanding of their Catholic faith, so that they may succeed as individuals who
make wise choices, serve others and attain a deeper relationship with Christ.
How you begin your education will influence your learning for the rest of your life. -Msgr. Paul Procella

us make our PTO the best yet!
Each night in the United States, an estimated 600,000 people live on the streets. This October, SMMCS wants to do its part in showing that even a small act of love, such as donating a pair of socks, can make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors who are homeless. Socktober giving has already begun. Collection baskets have been placed outside of each classroom; now all we have to do is fill them up! Please place new socks of any size in your class basket, and at the end of Soctober (October 31st), the class with the highest percentage donated will receive a SUPER SPECIAL TREAT!
Mrs. Hughes’ and Mrs. Rucka's 4th grade
classes had the opportunity to be
Archeologists as they dug for artifacts...aka:
chocolate chips, during Social Studies!
Now that’s a yummy lesson!
We would like to thank the family of Natalia (1st grade SMMCS student) and her family for help-ing with the KC Supply Drive. We would also like to recognize all of
our SMMCS families for all their love and sup-
port during and after Hurricane Harvey.
