PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Term 4 Week 3 Wow! November already … and still so many things to happen before the end of our school year! Please keep up to
date with our newsletter, Dojo, Skoolbag, Facebook and the TPS website.

Kindergarten Orientation Our Kindergarten Orientation Session 1 will occur next Tuesday the 6th November from 9.45-11.30. Students
enrolling in Kinder next year will spend the morning in the Kindergarten classrooms while parents will attend the
information session in the hall. They can RSVP to [email protected].
Year 6 Fair Also next Tuesday is the Year 6 fair! This is a fantastic day run by our Year 6 students. There will be a variety of
sideshow like attractions and challenges for the children to enjoy. These activities are all included in the $5
admission price. The $5 is payable to the office before the event, and students can bring some loose change to buy
items from the white elephant stall. If anyone has donations of old toys and/or books for this stall, please send them
to Mrs Donovan. All students will attend the fair after an early recess.
Year 6 camp What an amazing time our Stage 3 students had during our three day trip to Bathurst and the Blue Mountains. The
behaviour of the students was exceptional, and the children learnt so much about our pioneering past and the gold
rush. They also had a lot of fun. Thanks to Mrs Holloway for spending so much time with her thorough organisation,
in order to ensure that the camp was amazing. Thank you too to the Stage 3 teachers (who do not receive overtime
for camps), our brilliant SLSOs (Student Learning Support Officers) and our parent helpers.
ES1/S1 Excursion On Tuesday, Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 students went on an excursion to the Hunter Valley Zoo. Apparently, the lions
put on quite a show. I had asked some of the students to try to bring me back a meerkat, but they informed me that
unfortunately they cannot be kept as pets. The children’s behaviour was excellent and the weather perfect. Thank
you to the teachers and support staff that organised and supervised this fantastic day.
Grandfriends / 20th Anniversary Assembly We would like to welcome all grandparents and grandfriends to join us for a sausage sizzle and a special assembly on
Friday the 9th of November. This will also celebrate the 20th anniversary of the opening of the school. A sausage sizzle
will start at 8.30am with the assembly commencing at 9.45am in the primary school hall. Come along, enjoy a hot
sausage and an orange juice, and maybe read a book with your grandchild. Unfortunately, parking will not be
available onsite. You can drop grandfriends off, and then park at the pool. Parking is not available in the staff
carpark.
We hope that you can make it!
Remembrance Day assembly Traditionally, when Remembrance Day falls on a weekend, we commemorate this day on the Friday before, but as
next Friday is already very busy with our special assembly and sport, it will be held on Thursday 8th November. It is a
very short memorial. Students will leave classes to meet under the COLA and have a minute’s silence before
returning to class. Thank you to Mrs Bunny and Mrs Hersant for organising a box of World War Two artefacts from
The National War Memorial in Canberra. Students will have the opportunity to touch and even wear these relics in
their classrooms, helping to connect them to what Remembrance Day is really all about.
Colour Run The school colour run is this Friday! Do your final round of fundraising and prepare yourself for an awesome day!
All of the cash collected can be dropped into canteen any day this week up until Monday 5th November! The
event starts at 11:30am on the school field so please come down and support the students after all their hard work!
If you would like to attend the event, please sign in at the front administration building. Please note that Keel Street
gate will be closed and the only access will be from the main administration building.
To order your prize simply visit http://schoolfundraising.com.au between Friday 2nd November and Monday 5th
November and create/ log into your profile page. Then click on the ‘ORDER PRIZES’ button and follow the prompts.

ATSI AFL All of our ATSI students have been attending an AFL cultural development program every Monday afternoon for four
weeks. Caitlin from AFL NSW has been teaching these students skills and teamwork through a variety of fun AFL
based games. It has been lovely to see the way these kids have been working together and supporting each other
with the learning of these new skills from Kindergarten to Year 6. We look forward to another two weeks of the
program.
Teachers’ Day
Teachers’ Day was celebrated last week. Thanks to our amazing support staff for putting on a delicious spread for
our lunch! Thanks for all that our amazing teachers do for our students, and for each other. As I am sure you are
aware, teaching is much more than a 9.30am to 3.30pm job. Our teachers go above and beyond to provide a huge
variety of learning opportunities and extra curricula activities for your amazing children, often working for hours at
home to ensure that their students are provided with a quality education and every opportunity to develop into
productive and happy adults and citizens.
I hope that you can take the opportunity to attend one of our many special events happening across the school in
the coming weeks.

Wonderful writing skills from our students
I was lucky enough to have Cooper O’Brien and Eli Hart visit me last week to share with me their wonderful writing.
It made my day to see these two talented kindergarten students confidently share and read their writing.
Well done boys

Stage Three Bathurst Excursion Last week most of stage 3 went on their major excursion for the year. They went to Katoomba, Bathurst, Hill End and
Jenolan Caves. It was a very busy three days with our students gaining lots of knowledge associated with our studies
on colonisation and major events in Australia’s history.
The teachers were very proud of the respect shown at all of the venues we visited and the enthusiasm which was
demonstrated by all of our students. Overall the behaviour of our stage 3 was outstanding.
We would like to thank Mr O’Neill, Mrs Toscano and Mr Rawlins for giving up their time to be our parent helpers and
supporting our students.
Below are some photos of our time away.
