The Livonia Gazette Tom and Jim Wemett Sail for Summer Visit with Danish ‘Brother’ Klaus Witt http:// http://www.wemett.net/articles_and_obits/articles_and_obits_index.html Page 1 of 1 Tom and Jim Wemett Sail for Summer Visit with Danish ‘Brother’ Klaus Witt by Unknown Author June 27, 1963 Tom and Jim Wemett, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Wemett of Hemlock, are sailing today, June 27, aboard the student ship, Aurelia, from New York City. They will land in Bremerhaven, Germany, July 8, after making port-of-calls at Southampton, England, and Le Harve France. They will be met in Bremerhaven by their Danish “brother” Klaus Witt and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Helge Witt and sister Dorthe of Copenhagen, Denmark. Klaus was Livonia’s American Field Service student last year and made his home with the Wemetts. Tom and Jim will have 10 days aboard ship attending language classes, discussion forums and classes on travel trips along with entertainment and recreation. This is under the sponsorship of the Council of Student Travel. They will be spending the summer with the Witts, who have planned a family vacation in Sweden. Klaus, Dorthe, Tom and Jim will go hosteling in Germany and Denmark, staying at International Youth Hostels. Copenhagen and Tivoli Gardens are also on their itinerary as well as spending time at the Witt summer home on the west coast of Zealand. The Wemetts will fly from Copenhagen to New York City as SAS on August 20. Jim will be a sophomore at Livonia Central this fall. Tom enters Colorado School of Mines at Golden Colo., in September and Klaus will attend the University of Copenhagen in the fall.
