SCHOOL ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Texas School Compulsory Attendance Law: “A student may not be given credit for a class unless the student is in attendance for at least 90% of the days the class is offered. (No more than 8 days per semester and/or 16 days for the entire year)
If your child reaches 10 absences during a semester and/or 17 ab-sences for the year, you may be asked to appear before the atten-dance committee, and/or a truancy report may be filed with the Sheriff’s department.
Please make a STRONG effort to send your child to school daily and on time. We understand that children of school age get ill, and we understand when they are too ill to come to school, but we have a registered nurse who can examine them when you believe they are ill and then determine if they are able to remain in school or should be sent home.
If an absence is necessary, you must send a parent or medical ex-cuse with your child for each absence immediately upon his/ her return to school.
After five (5) parent notes, we will accept only medical/dental notes to excuse an absence.
EOC Testing will be conducted Tuesday and Thurs-
day - Please make sure your student is given the
best opportunity to perform well by encouraging a
good night's rest and a healthy breakfast.
Students will be given water and snacks while test-
ing. All students are encouraged to take a book to
read after they have finished their test.
NO phones will be allowed in the testing
building - leaving them in their locker, vehi-
cles or at home is recommended.
Please make sure your child is at school for
the whole day.
Testing will begin between 8:00-8:30 and last
4 hours.
