What can I give Him, Poor as I am? If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb, If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part— Yet what can I give Him? Give my heart! Packing for a Trip? The Spring and Summer months are usual mes of vacaon! A me where we drag out our luggage, pack our bags, take our families and go for a few days of relaxaon and me together. For many, espe- cially if you have small children, youll pack just about everything you think you mightneed. Which most of the me you didnt need these items and was just more weight in the suitcase. In terms of our spiritual journey, what are we packing in our Spiritual Luggage”? Are we carrying with us things that are unnecessary and weigh us down? These are our burdens, things such as: sin, worry, strife, sickness, guilt, shame, weariness, discontent, doubt, loneliness, anger, insecurity, disap- pointments and grief. Everyone has went through them, but we were never meant to carry these bur- dens alone. This would be just too heavy to bear. In 1 Peter 5:7 and Mahew 11:28, we are told to cast all our anxiety on him and to unload our worries (burdens), because he cares and is looking out for us. Paul told the church in Galaa (6:2), to bear one anothers burdens. As Chrisans we are not immune from hurul things or struggles. We will suffer for doing good and for doing evil (1 Peter 3:13- 17). We are on a race to the finish and we cannot run our race, if we are carrying along with us all these that hold us back and keep us weighed down. We are told to lay aside every weightand run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus”. How in the world do we do that? Easier said that done you say? Yes it is! We are human and have human weaknesses, and it easy to see the negave, but forget about the posive. If we pack our bags with only our burdens, we leave no room for our blessings. Just as we all have burdens, we also have blessings. Blessings are the things we must pack in our luggage...these are joy, love, hope, trust, grace, friendships, family, the church, Gods Promises, Gods understanding, Gods peace, and Eternal Life. If we pack these things in our spiritual luggage of life, we will not give the burdens the space that is meant for the blessings. The apostle Paul, who was encumbered with his own burdens, told the church, that whatever is true, whatev- er is honorable, right, pure, lovely and good…”think on these things”. (Phil 4:8). Paul went on to say, that he had learned that whatever state he was in, to be content. In Gods presence, well always find fullness of joy.(Psalm 16:11). Like the sheep, we belong to a loving shepherd and He will care for us . (Psalm 23). His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Ma. 11:29). Its his job to care for us and our job to let Him. Take Him on your journey today. Completely surrender your burdens to Him and load your bag full of blessings! Packing for a Trip? The Spring and Summer months are usual times of vacation! A time where we drag out our luggage, pack our bags, take our families and go for a few days of relaxation and time together. For many, espe-cially if you have small children, you’ll pack just about everything you think you “might” need. Which most of the time you didn’t need these items and was just more weight in the suitcase. In terms of our spiritual journey, what are we packing in our “Spiritual Luggage”? Are we carrying with us things that are unnecessary and weigh us down? These are our burdens, things such as: sin, worry, strife, sickness, guilt, shame, weariness, discontent, doubt, loneliness, anger, insecurity, disap-pointments and grief. Everyone has went through them, but we were never meant to carry these bur-dens alone. This would be just too heavy to bear. In 1 Peter 5:7 and Matthew 11:28, we are told to cast all our anxiety on him and to unload our worries (burdens), because he cares and is looking out for us. Paul told the church in Galatia (6:2), to “bear one another’s burdens.” As Christians we are not immune from hurtful things or struggles. We will suffer for doing good and for doing evil (1 Peter 3:13-17). We are on a race to the finish and we cannot run our race, if we are carrying along with us all these that hold us back and keep us weighed down. We are told to “lay aside every weight” and run with endurance the race that is set before us, “fixing our eyes on Jesus”. How in the world do we do that? Easier said that done you say? Yes it is! We are human and have human weaknesses, and it easy to see the negative, but forget about the positive. If we pack our bags with only our burdens, we leave no room for our blessings. Just as we all have burdens, we also have blessings. Blessings are the things we must pack in our luggage...these are joy, love, hope, trust, grace, friendships, family, the church, God’s Promises, God’s understanding, God’s peace, and Eternal Life.
