The Foundation takes our role as steward of your contributions very seriously. Our Investment Committee comprises investment professionals to ensure that the underlying assets of the Foundation are managed wisely. And, each year, Kaufman Rossin audits our funds.

While we are proud of our progress, there is more work to do. More than 79 percent of full-time, first-time students at the College require financial assistance to pursue their studies, and state funding has been declining over the last ten years. Given this environment, private contributions are essential to the College. Scholarships are essential to any academic institution. This is especially true at Miami Dade College, where 66 percent of students are considered low income and 45 percent live below the federal poverty level for their household size. As a result, many work to support families and attend school part-time to juggle their myriad responsibilities.

Scholarships awarded to MDC students have an incomparable impact on the recipient and a multiplier effect on their families and communities. With greater funding, Miami Dade College Foundation can increase the availability of scholarships making more educational dreams possible.

Students and alumni consistently credit their full-time professors as catalysts to their successes, both in the classroom and beyond. Full-time faculty members offer accessi-bility and counsel essential to the success of our graduates. With increased funding, the Foundation can make further investments in full-time faculty, making these transformative faculty-student connections possible.

Professor Juan M. Morata takes pride in mentoring his students and providing them with an interactive hands-on learning experience. His students are going on to become research scientists, and a few have pursued patents for their work. In 2011, Morata was honored as a Philip Morris Endowed Teaching Chair.

From dental care to physical therapy and nursing, Miami Dade College is preparing future clinicians to be successful in the workforce. The School of Health Sciences at MDC’s Medical Campus is home to state-of-the-art facilities and more than two dozen degree programs and training certificates that put our students on the fast track to an in-demand career. Dr. Juli Daniels is the RN-BSN Department Chair at the MDC Benjamín León School
