This course is designed to provide instruction and intensive drill in order to improve students’ test score performance in each of the four main skills tested on the internet-based TOEFL (iBT): Reading (including vocabulary), Listening, Speaking, and
Writing. Differences between the traditional paper and pencil TOEFL, the previous computer-based TOEFL (CBT), and the iBT will be discussed.
Students will spend approximately 10 hours in the computer lab becoming familiar with the internet-based TOEFL, learning the computer techniques necessary for the
test, and practicing the various types of questions which are tested on the iBT.
In order to cover all the materials in the course adequately, students will be expected to do a substantial amount of homework each week.
Note: To receive a Certificate of Attendance students must have at least 75%
attendance (no more than 5 absences).
Special Needs: Any student who requires accommodation based on a documented disability, has emergency medical information to share, or requires special arrangements in case of
emergency evacuation should schedule an appointment with DRC (Disability Resource Center) by calling (425) 564-2498 or by going in person to the DRC Office in B132.
