By Godwin LigoLeader of opposition,Edward Natapei, has said
ministers who support West
Papuas stand for politi-
cal freedom should resign
in protest after the accept-
ance of Indonesia into the
Melanes ian Spearhead
Group (MSG) as an Observ-
er- which did not reflect a
recent Council of Ministers
decision and the national
parliaments stand on the
issue.
My understanding was
that the Council of Minis-
ters passed a resolution just
before the MSG meeting in
Suva that Vanuatu will not
accept Indonesia into the
MSG even in observer sta-
tus.
It is my understand-
ing also that that Coun-
cil of Ministers Meeting
was cha ire d by the Dep u-
ty Prime Minister and the
then Acting Prime Minister
Ham Lini Vanuroroa. And then the Pr ime
Minister Honorable Sato
Kilman has gone ahead to
support other MSG leaders
at the Suva MSG meet-
ing in granting Indonesia
an Observer status , Oppo-
sition Leader Natapei told
Daily Post yesterday morn-
ing.
The Leader of Opposition
questioned if the Council of
Ministers is divided over the
issue.

Trade and Tourism, Ham
Lini, has terminated Acting
Director General of Public
Utilities Jotham Napat yes-
terday.
Napat who is the Direc-
tor of Vanuatu Meteoro-
logical Service said the
Act ing Prime Min ister has
the authority to terminate
him but that his letter did
not specify any reasons for
his termination.
He said he understood that
his termination was in line
with a request from the Min-
ister of Public Utilities Harry
Iauko to terminate him.
It is not clear who is going
to replace him but Napat said
he has started a number of
projects in the ministry which
he hopes his successor will
continue to develop to their
completion.
One of them is the ongo-
ing repair of the notoriouspotholes along the streets of
Port Vila.
This project is continu-
ing at present and I hope my
successor will continue with
them until they are all com-
pleted, he said.
In an earlier interview
Napat had promised to tar
seal the potholes in prepa-
ration for a planned inter-
national conference which is
expected to take place in Port
Vila in June of 2012.
