The Christian calendar begins with the season of ADVENT which begins 3 - 24 December 2017 in the Christian Calendar. Christ the Judge and anticipated Messiah is emphasized in this season. This season begins four Sundays before Christmas Day. It is a time of preparation for the coming of Christ. The colour of Advent is BLUE/PURPLE, symbolising penitence and preparation. 5. CAR PARKING Car park lots are available in the multi-storey car park at Block 260 and in the vicinity of our church. Please refrain from parking in residential (red) lots in the multi-storey car park and along Street 21.

9. CELEBRATE LUNAR NEW YEAR TOGETHER WITH THE S4G FAMILY

Come join us this Jan 17 S4G and celebrate Lunar New Year early with the S4G family. It will be a Pot-Bless celebration with food, singing, games and so on. So please register early and inform Cindy Tng/Susan Low what dish you will be bringing to share with everyone. The $2 fee is waived for this occasion. NEW Starting in 2018, we will dig deeper into the Word and discover the implications of our faith. God willing, we will have outings to explore different Christian ministries. Please come join us!

CHRISTIAN OUTREACH AND SOCIAL CONCERNS

10. RECRUITMENT FOR VOLUNTEER TUTORS & COORDINATORS FOR TUITION PROGRAM 2018 The Christian Outreach and Social Concerns (COSC) Ministry is thankful for the volunteer tutors who have responded to the call to provide free academic coaching for students in the Pre-school, Primary and Secondary levels in 2017.

The COSC plans to continue building a sustainable Tuition Program in 2018 in these areas: a) A Language & Literacy program targeted at Pre-School children

b) An Academic Coaching program for Primary School students

focusing on Math and English

c) An Academic Coaching program for Secondary School students

focusing on Math and English

d) A self-sustaining volunteer-run tuition program.

We appeal for volunteers to come forward to partner with us and support these needy students within our Ang Mo Kio Community.

The program schedule is as follows:

• Pre-School and Primary Level sessions will be held on Saturdays from 10.00am to 12.00pm, starting from 13 Jan 2018. • Secondary Level Sessions will be on either Wednesdays or Thurdays from 8.00pm to 9.30pm, starting from 17 Jan 2018. • Sessions will be held at our church premises during school terms. More than 60 students have already registered for the program for 2018.

CHRISTIAN OUTREACH AND SOCIAL CONCERNS

Volunteer tutors will need to commit to serve in any of the following, for at least 6 months: • Teaching of Language and Reading, or • Teaching of English or Math - Primary level or • Teaching of English or Math - Secondary level or In addition, we are also appealing for coordinators who will assist us in the following: • Performing logistic and administrative tasks to support the tuition program.Youth who have just completed their A-levels and Polytechnic education are welcome to serve.Renewal for volunteers Tutors & Coordinators shall be after every six months.>Interested volunteers can sign up by completing the registration form @ information counter.>For more details, please contact PTM Mr. Tan Quee Chew @6705 6160 or 8123 4772 (HP) or Ms Agnes Samuel @ 9857 7912

Our church theme for 2018 is Disciple and the book study that cells will be embarking on is “A Disciple’s Path”. The Pulpit Series will be a supplement to the Cell book. All of the Cell groups will be studying this book together. The transition to National Service poses a struggle for many of our young people today. Through this talk, we hope to encourage current NSFs and those enlisting in 2018 with God’s Word to face the challenges ahead. We also have an NSF Community that meets to pray and support one another. Come and join us to find out more!
