A MESSAGE FROM CLUB TREASURER – CHIP IZARD

Please check your email as your Q4 invoice has been emailed to you. If you did not receive it, please see Chip Izard for a copy. For those who have outstanding balances, please clear this up by June 1st as we need to close out the Rotary year with everyone current on their account.

A MESSAGE FROM CLUB SECRETARY – SHELLEY HICKEY

In observance of Memorial Day, there will be no meeting on Monday, May 31st. Have a great Memorial Day weekend and we will see you again on Monday, June 7th.

A MESSAGE FROM CLUB PRESIDENT – BARRY KRAUSE

Memorial Day

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who died in our nation’s service. Memorial Day was officially proclaimed on May 5, 1868, by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, and was first observed on May 30, 1868. On that day flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. After WWI the holiday changed from honoring just those who died fighting in the Civil War to honoring Americans who died fighting in any war. Next Monday, May 31, we will celebrate Memorial Day as we remember those United States military force men and women who died in our nation’s service so we may continue to enjoy our freedom in America. We will not have a meeting next Monday, May 31, Memorial Day.
