Families and DogsThis gentle 2 hour walk is ideal for older children, youngerchildren should be supervised. Larger wheeled pushchairs arebetter suited to the terrain. Well behaved dogs travel free butshould be under close control, preferably on a lead.

For each Adult Walkers Ticket sold the Lake District Foundationwill receive 20p towards local conservation projects

Walkers Ticket (via Wray Castle)Join the boat at any of our main piers (or your journey may beginand end at Ambleside), sail north to enjoy the magnificent mountainscenery and lovely secluded bays before arriving atAmbleside Pier. Here take the traditional launchservice to Wray Castle (pictured and open to thepublic) ready to start your gentle 4 mile strollalong the lake shore path to Ferry House.

Before departing Ferry House on your next boatjourney to Bowness, if time permits take theopportunity to visit Claife Viewing Station, whichwas built in the 1790s for the first tourists visitingthe Lake District. Today, you can enjoy the samepanoramic views of the lake from the platform.Use the timetable opposite to plan your day,using the tabs to select your start/finishdestination.

LOVELY LAKESHORE WALK AND CRUISE 2019 - 6 APRIL to 31 OCTOBERTake the traditional launch from Pier 3 at Bownessfor a short 10 minute journey across the lake to thepicturesque Western shore. Here, a Mountain Goatmini bus will be waiting to take you on to the NationalTrust’s Hill Top (the house of Beatrix Potter) andHawkshead.

The journey to Hill Top takesapproximately 20 minutes;Beatrix Potter’s home is openevery day during May, June,July, August and every dayexcept Fridays at other times,(however the garden andshop are open every day). The beautiful village ofHawkshead is a further 10minutes along the road - here
