    2. Page 4, para 2a(1):

    a. The procedure recommended was necessary i n all uni ts prior t o the initiation of the present Vietnam Drug Program which became effectiv~ on or about 25 October 71 .

    b. Under the present p~ogr3m, it is not necessary for a command t o ~ol~ a drug abuser in his unit once he has been identified . ~s soon as a ?erscn comes u~ po~itive on a uri nalysis , that pers on can be sent t o t he Drug Trea t -ment Center or the Drug Abuse Holding ~":mter. Circumstances and desir es of the commander will dictate which of ·che nlo facilities s nould be utilizec .

    c. under the present exemption program, the commander may once again send t he individual to the Drug Rehabilitation Center ar hold hi m i n t he unit for a maximum of 7 days at which time he is considered drug free . If t he individual is identified as positive on a urinalysis any time after release from the Drug Rehabilitation Center or the seven day hold in tne unit , he is eligible for the Drug Treat ment Center or the Drug Abuse Ho1ain6 Center.
