Little Lambs Day Camp Little Lambs day camp will be held Tuesday, June 23 to Friday, June 26 from 12 noon to 3:15 pm. Our theme this year is “Everest: Con-quering Challenges with God’s Mighty Power.” Little Lambs is open to children from age 3 (potty trained) to those who have completed 4th grade. People older than 4th grade are welcome and encour-aged to help. We will be serving lunch every day before we begin our teaching and learning time. Registration forms are now available in the church office. If you have question or need more information, please speak with Pastor Bruce.

Bruce’s BabblingsBrothers and Sisters in Christ: I have just come off of a very eventful weekend. On a weekend when my daughter Alyssa moved to Minnesota and was installed as the try ministry intern at Lake Auburn Moravian Church for the summer and my future daughter-in-law Alyssa Thibert graduated from William Mitchell College of Law in Minnesota, I stayed in Lake Mills for our worship services as well as listening to two presentations. I heard first from Justin Rabbach as he gave updates about what is happening in several Moravian mission areas. I left that presentation early to attend a celebration to honor the beginning of Rev. Christie Melby-Gibbons’ new emerging ministry in the Milwaukee area. I was struck by what Justin and Christie said as they both spoke in different locations and in different contexts. They both referred to relationships. They both talked about the relationships that they have made over the years and the ministry that they have been involved in and hope to continue to be involved in. I also heard mentioned during the day the people who have influenced them over the years, the people who have nurtured them along the way, and the people whom they hope to reach out to. I am reminded of the words of II Timothy 2:5-6 which states, “I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that lived first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, lives in you. For this reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands.” We are about to move into our summer schedule. Summer is often a time when growth can be seen. I feel like sometimes you can almost see the corn growing in the fields on a daily basis. I hope you have an opportunity to foster some relationships, to have an opportunity to see some growth, and a time to relax a bit and enjoy a summer sunrise or sunset. Congratulations to our High School Graduates We celebrated with the three high school graduates from our congregation on Saturday, May 9, following worship. Kyle Haferman will be graduating from Lake Mills High School and plans to attend Madison College in the fall. Nicole Hooper will also be graduating from Lake Mills High School and also plans to attend Madison College. Tyler Frey will be graduating from Cambridge High School and plans to attend UW-LaCrosse in the fall. Congratulations to these fine young people and their families.

Moravian Women’s News Women’s Fellowship of the Lake Mills Moravian Church is celebrating our 60th Anni-versary this year! Here are a few dates to keep in mind for all women of the church.1. June 25-28: Three of us will be at the In-

ternational Women’s Conference at Sandy Hook, Maryland. There’s still time to reg-ister if you’d like to meet Moravian women from around the world. It’s always fun. Nan Nelson, Barb Wendt, and Pat Yahn can tell you about it later.

2. September 25-27: Lake Mills Women’s Retreat with Kay Ward leading will take place at Mt. Morris Camp & Conference Center.

3. Saturday, October 24: Market Day will take place with the usual meal and rooms to shop in.

4. November 7 & 8: Women’s Weekend will include worship services and installation of officers. We are planning coffee and dessert after the Saturday service and dinner after the Sunday service to celebrate the 60th an-niversary of Women’s Fellowship. We hope all congregation members--men and wom-en--will sign up for the meal.

HolyCommunion There are two upcom-ing opportunities for com-munion. The first one will be June 13 and 14. Please note that this is a change from a previ-ous date. Because we are celebrating Moravi-an Music Sunday on June 7, we have pushed communion back to June 13 and 14. The other opportunity for Holy Communion will be July 4 and 5. Please join us for either or both of these communion services.

MEN’S FELLOWSHIP The Men’s Fellowship is contributing $300 toward the mission trip to Pittsburgh, Pennsyl-vania in July. The men will be leading worship on June 20 & 21. The next men’s breakfast is June 13th at 7:30 a.m.

Book Club The first meeting of the book club will be held June 4 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gathering Room at church. This month’s book is John Grisham’s “The Brethren.” All are welcome. Just read the book and get ready to discuss it.

The Work ofour Boards The Board of Trustees met on May 14. Following are highlights of that meeting:• the treasurer’s report was shared and ap-

proved. It was noted that giving is down from last year and that we currently are showing a nearly $20,000 shortfall. The good news is all bills are paid.

• committee reports and the Pastor’s report were shared and approved. The Sanctuary revitalization committee was given permis-sion to continue to seek bids for various areas of need in the Sanctuary.

• it was noted that Steve Brockert had met with two contractors about tuck pointing work that needs to be done.

• we are awaiting bids on painting of the Fel-lowship Hall ceiling.

• it was noted that the spring clean-up date would be May 17 following worship.

• it was noted that Ken Manske, who had been mowing our church lawn for several years, will be stepping down from this volunteer post. The Messmer family will take care of mowing for the next several months.

• it was noted that four new windows have been installed in the basement hallway. Thanks to the Dean Frey memorial fund and Denise Peters memorial fund for paying for these windows.

• the next meeting was set for June 11 follow-ing the Joint Board meeting.

The May Board of Elders meeting took place after the Messenger deadline. We will share highlights of that meeting in the next Messenger.

“Where CanWe Find Bruce?” Summer is a time for camps, vacations, weddings, and a different pace of life and other opportunities to enjoy God’s blessings. Pastor Bruce will be involved in several of these activities this summer as he officiates at the wedding of Elli Austin and Jack Baartman on the weekend of June 19-21 in Eau Claire. He will be taking a vacation day on Saturday, July 11. Rev. Kurt Liebenow will be preaching Saturday only (Bruce will be back to preach on Sunday) while Bruce is at a family reunion in Door County. From July 18-25 Bruce will be on staff at Chetek. Rev. Jane Harberg will preach on July 18 & 19 in Bruce’s absence. Bruce will also be taking some vacation days in later August to take his daughter back for her senior year at Moravian College.

FUNERALS: We extend our sympathy to the family of Shirley Else who passed away April 24. A private memorial service will be held later this summer. We had a fantastic breakfast and fel-lowship time on May 10, 2015, as we celebrat-ed Mother’s Day

along with the last day of Sunday School for this school year. We would like to thank Matt Beckman and Bob & Donna Hinzmann for serving a delicious meal. After breakfast, the children, with help from the adults, filled and released prayer balloons on the lower parking lot. We then went to the 10:00 worship service where the children sang “My Mom is the Bomb” and enjoyed the service and love feast. As we close another Sunday School year, we would like to thank all the volunteers that made this a great year! Blessings and safe travels to you and your families as we enter into summer in Wisconsin. Remember, Little Lambs is happening June 23-26. It’s not too late to sign up your youngsters for this fun event. Please see Pastor Bruce or the church office for more information. Our Rally Day celebration is scheduled for September 13, 2015. The Bestowing of Blessings Mark your calendars now for the Western District Women’s Retreat to be held at Mt. Morris September 25-27. Bishop Kay Ward will be leading us as we explore “The Bestowing of Blessings.” Using scripture, story and song, we will explore the essentials of our Moravian faith –Father, Son and Holy Spirit – Faith, Love and Hope. Our lives are showered with blessings and during our time together, we will stop to appreciate those blessings and learn how we might become blessings to each other. In addition to a great program, there will also be plenty of time for fellowship, sharing, laughter, creativity, and delicious meals. There will also be an optional time to join together with Western Region Moravian women to connect, elect officers, and vision for the future. The cost will be $115 for housing in Black Oak or $87 for housing in one of the cabins. Friday dinner through Sunday breakfast meals are included. If you are only able to come for part of the weekend, we can work that out too. Registration materials will be coming out in the near future. Shelter for the Homeless On Tuesday, June 9, our church will be delivering a meal to the shelter for homeless men in Madison. On this trip we will be asking for volunteers to help deliver and serve the meals. Please call Steve Brockert (648-3028) if you can help with this local short-term mission trip. At this time, no discipleship students have signed-up to help with this mission trip. Please watch the bulletin board outside Fellowship Hall for items you can donate to help make the meal for the men. If you do sign up to donate food items, please try to bring those items to the church kitchen by Sunday, June 7. The next time we are scheduled to serve will be Tuesday, August 11. Any disciple-ship youth who want to get a head start on meeting their commitment for community service can contact Steve Brockert (648-3028) about getting on the August serving crew. The August meal comes before the beginning of the year discipleship meeting where the youth sign up for their community service activity. In the past, many seventh grade youth who have experienced the homeless event talk to Steve over the summer and get that part of their eighth grade discipleship commitment done before school activities and homework start.

News AroundThe District

We are pleased to announce that Sister Sanette Francis, a recent Moravian Theolog-ical Seminary graduate has accepted the call to serve as pastor of the Ebenezer Moravian Church in Watertown. Sister Frances will begin her new work on June 15 and will be in-stalled on June 28. Please continue to pray for Sanette and Ebenezer as they begin this new exciting chapter together. Ben Lippert, who has finished his first year of seminary, will be serving under appoint-ment the Grace Moravian Church in Westland, Michigan, this summer. After summer Ben will return to Bethlehem for his second year of seminary. Greg Behrend, who also has finished his first year of seminary, will be serving under appointment the Downey Moravian Church in Downey, California. Following his time at Downey, Greg will return to seminary for his second year. In other news, Greg was married in May of this year to Amy Schumacher at Mt. Morris. We congratulate Greg and Amy on this new chapter in their life. Our very own Alyssa Nelson is currently doing a try ministry internship with Rev. Brian Dixon and the Lake Auburn Moravian Church in Minnesota. And, our very own Dan Miller has com-pleted two years of seminary and will be in-volved in CPE (clinical pastoral education) this summer before attending his final year of seminary in Bethlehem. Please remember Rev. Barb Berg as she enters retirement in the very near future. Sister Berg’s final Sunday at Watertown will be June 14. You are encouraged to keep Barb as well as the Watertown church in your prayers as Barb adjusts to retirement and as Watertown continues in the call process.

Stewardship/Outreach News As this is written, we are in the midst of our plant sale and working on plans for our annual Pig Roast in the fall. Here are a few of the things we have done with the money we raised: donated to the upcoming Pennsylvania Mission Trip, bought a mirror for the Cancer Center in Johnson Creek, provided backpacks and supplies for our local schools, donated to the Ahuas Clinic in Honduras, and provided Christmas hams for the community. We are so blessed by the faithful people who help make these things happen. Thank you!!!!
