Principals Report Welcome to the Week 10 edition with lots of important information for you.

Week 7 Flooding With the large downpour on Friday 22 March, we experienced flooding across the school. Water poured down our back hill into the TAS area and through the quadrangle. This resulted in a number of staff and students assisting in diverting water was going into some classrooms, which was great. Some classrooms were affected, with the Ag Shed area, Woodwork room, Metal work room and the dark room all having significant amounts of water going through them. I thank all the people who were involved in helping with the event and the clean-up. They were magnificent! Students were supervised for a number of lessons or were able to go home with parent permission. Thanks to parents and families for working with us during this challenging afternoon!

From this event:

• Timber and metalwork room flooring to be replaced

• Farm shed tiling to be fixed • Replacement of welders and timber materials • Stormwater drains were cleaned out • Dam drainage rectified

Thanks again for all your support

School Improvements We have continued to make improvements around the school and I thank everyone for the perseverance while change happens. These improvements are occurring or soon to be occurring:

• Fascia’s and gutters replaced in C & D block • Painting of A block hallways, doors and frames • Re-carpeting music room and A block offices • 75KW/h Solar panel system, increased from 40

KW/h • 2 water bubblers and bottle refill stations

installed at canteen and breezeway respectively • Seating around 2 trees, 1 near MPC, 1 near TAS

air conditioning unit • Synthetic turf around basketball courts

• 3 classrooms with new whiteboards, sound bars and data projectors

2018 Yearbook Thank you to everyone who had contributed an article to the Yearbook. Alex in Year 10, has done a magnificent job with this, compiling the Yearbook. It will be printed very soon and distributed to families through email for viewing on an electronic device. Some hard copies will be available for sale as well.

Chaplain & Scripture Junee HS enjoys wonderful support from the Junee Christian Education Board. They supply funding to contribute to Mr Lucas King being employed as the school chaplain. They also provide Scripture teachers that teach Stage 4. Year 7: From 2019 onwards, students have to return a note indicating they want to attend Scripture lessons. No student will be involved in Scripture unless the opt-in note has been returned. If you want to know if your child has returned their note and is involved, please contact Mr Turner.

Year 8 Scripture is taught for five weeks each term on a Friday to each Year 8 class. Students who opt out of scripture are engaged in another learning class, discussing wellbeing and ethical situations in lessons designed by our Wellbeing team.

ANZAC Day Each year the schools of Junee join with a plethora of community groups and members to celebrate and recognise ANZAC day. We will again be involved in the community March as a school and I invite all students to join with us behind our school banner. We will meet at 9:45am on Thursday 25 April at Memorial Park to march. I also look forward to seeing our school captains in a leadership role for the Ceremony.
