GUSTAR IS NOT A NORMAL VERB

• In Spanish we use the verb “gustar” to talk about things that we like or what we like to do.

• However, “gustar” is a strange verb, it’s kind of an irregular, but not really.

• There are a handful of verbs like gustar (encantar, doler, importar, sorprender,

parecer, faltar, quedar, sobrar…)But we are not going to worry about these others this year

ONLY GUSTAR

WHAT’S SO STRANGE…

• The most commonly used forms of the verb gustar in the present tense are

gusta and gustan

• HOWEVER, You must use an IOP (Indirect Object

Pronoun) before gustar(me, te, le, nos, les)

The IOP specifies to whom it is pleasing,

** never use a Personal Pronoun (yo, tú, el, ella,

usted, nosotros, ellos, ellas, ustedes) instead of the IOP.
